Talk is cheap. Lawyers are not. Unless you have a really strong case, you are out of luck. No one cares if you are feeling like your severance is unjust. Its better than nothing! However, if laws were broken in the termination process, then shop your case around. Attorney's will pick it up if there is sufficient cause to get them interested and (hopefully) get you paid.

Severance is NOT a mandated benefit. Most states are "right to work" and either the employee or employer can end the working relationship at any time. As long as the company isn't using any protected class as the basis for dismissal, there's no lawsuit.
