Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

JC is going to be sadly and embarassingly destoryed when MAV isn't ready

I can't help but laugh at his emails these days... He is so out of touch with reality and how Dell REALLY is, it's just hilarious.

Pretty sure everyone got "his" email the other day talking about this "modernization" and how tools will be different and bla bla bla... For those who are oblivous, he is talking about Maveric. If you dont know what that is then, go to chatgpt.com and type in "Dell project maverick" or just search for the article DELL leaked to Business Insider...

Anywyas, he's going to be sorely dissapointed and infuriated when mav is NOT ready to go live in May - because it 100% won't be ready lmfao - but, to save face he will force it and all of Dell will be forced to use a half broken system, while mostly relying on old school tools that, you know.. work!

I can't even count the number of times they said DOMS was going away only for it to still be there for years on end...

@be I mean, I agree with you but at the same time... when you are worth 10's of millions and get a nice comfy million dollar salary, does it really matter who hates you?

@e3 seeing a trend from the last year that lines up with this. Anyone saying mav is not architected right is shown the door. It's been happening since late 2024.

This is what happens when the project is led by an Indian VP who is a former Consultant with one of the big firms. Nothing but making impossible commitments that no one can meet, because 95% of his staff are incompetent Indians, many of which he moved to the US or Singapore. The competent team members (American and Chinese) get sh-t on and let go, as if it’s their fault.

@da From what I know about it, I personally don't see it being THAT big of a deal but hey, execs love to use all the fancy terms like "best quarter in history" or "best xyz of xyz" and yet, have NOTHING to show for it.

I don't know enough about Maverick but from what I do know, it's just Dell gathering up all the tools and putting them in one singular location up in the sky. I'm sure there is far more to it than that and I can't imagine it doesn't involve a lot of AI bs but, at a high level that is what is happening. I'm not sure why tf they went with who they did but, not my problem lol.

To me transformation can be a good thing, but with this and a few other initiatives over the years it's just a ton of meaningless words in a single email that don't make sense to anyone not involved. What we really needed was a single page on inside Dell that says exactly what this thing is and exactly what we should expect. Instead the vibe I get from this initiative along with others of previous years is "here's this huge thing you have to use, we don't know how it works and it's your job to find out."

It honestly just sounds like a sh-t ton more work just to get my day to day work done, which I am already struggling with because of all the other systems in place now.

This company loves to get in the way of people actually trying to do legitimate engineering. I shouldn't be fighting with IT on a weekly basis because they uninstalled some business critical software or having to manage systems in RENBE.

It's already out in the news.

Clarke is stating that this is the biggest transformation in company history.

No doubt, thelayoff.com is going to provide minute-by-minute status.

It is as if they are preparing employees for a truly rough road ahead. Not a lot of information as of yet.

@cn He's also played a significant part in the ruining of ISG, which was by far the most profitable part of the company until the Dell managent simpletons started messing with it.

Wow - a lot of ha te for JC, when he's seen a thing or two at the company and fixed many of Dell's systemic problems over the years (product types, quality, recall issues, strategic direction). Give the guy some credit where it's due as although like most he's imperfect, he's done a pretty good job for the corporation.

As for Project MAV, what makes you think it won't be ready to go live in May?

The company must switchover by the intended date. We can't go back, no substitutions etc. They are setting people up for it being such a change that if there are any foul ups, just keep moving. If it is anything like the communications of layoffs for the last several years, there will be zero communications.

@OP Had to laugh when you mentioned DOMS, still have the "T" shirt with that slogan on it saying it was finally going away. You are absolutely correct and as a 25 plus year vet of Dell I've seen every "new" idea as a old idea rehashed. Remember the english CIO with his slogan.... rationalize the core... which is mostly what the Top G U N project is about ?

they don't have to admit it, we can leak information to the press as whistleblowers and let the press do the work.

Will Maverick be a success? Honestly, no.
And will leadership ever admit that? Also no.

When people with power and money fail—no matter how badly—it usually gets covered up or spun into a “success.” Just look at the recent brand unification mess. A solid brand was ki-led, legacy Apple-style names were mocked, and then, within a year, the company quietly went right back to the old brand names. That tells you everything you need to know.

So yes, your post is right—but the failure will never be acknowledged. The story told externally will be the complete opposite of what’s actually happening. JC might even walk away with a nice bonus for the Maverick rollout, despite how poorly it’s gone.

Meanwhile, the people on the front lines will feel all the pressure and fallout. And, as usual, no one at the top really seems to care.

@a1 JC is a Narcissistic sociopath, mentally incapable of acknowledging that he is what's wrong woth dell. He'll blame everyone but himself when everything goes sideways and others will take the fall because he sits at the top of the pecking order.

It's just funny how delusional and out of touch JC is because while he sits on a massive networth in his huge house, and barks orders to 100k people, he hasn't figured out that nobody respects him, likes him, nor takes him seriously.

Unfortunately we are stuck with him until MD decides to fire him, which isn't likely going to happen but, this email he sent out is so premature and so confident that mav will "go live" in May that, when it DOESN'T, the amount of egg on his face might make him quit lol.
