Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

Promotion without a pay raise

At least without one right away. Is that something worth considering?

As the old saying goes, “Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free” and at Elevance they will milk the cow until it dies of exhaustion and then will RIF it.🙁

Not unless its a title that will get you a role at a different company.

Seen it happen again and again - you will NEVER get the $$$ - they are using you and your ego for their own needs -

Don’t do it! They will just take advantage of you.

Been there, done that, 0/10 do not recommend. The money never came, even though I was patient and excelled at the "promotion" job. I had to post out and get another position. You know what this is, they RIFd all these people and now they need the work done but dont want to hire or pay anyone. That is their problem. I bet if they can't find someone else to take this bait other than you, they will post that position. A lot if the time leadership has been told to take the additional work and they can't or don't want it, so they try to pass it down and make it look like an "opportunity" for you. Don't fall for it.

Just be cautious, sometimes the last one ' in' is the first one out..

That is a carrot on a stick you will NEVER catch! Trust me as someone who dealt with that for years in my prior position. If you're eligible (i.e. within distance of a pulsepoint) you're better off telling your manager to pound sand and look for a different role. If not, I'd get that resume started because you're getting that work anyway even without the title or pay.

The only way I would bite would be if I am at the very top of my current position's salary range and they won't give any more raises and the promotion moves me into a higher salary range allowing me to get merit raises again. Otherwise, they are just trying to abuse you!

Called "dry promo." If you ask nicely maybe they'll let you do their laundry for them for free. But they'll call you "Excellency King/Queen of Health and Emperor/Empress of Care." That's way hot for employers you know? They see "Empress of Care" on the rez and they just lose it; they have to hire at that point they basically can't control themselves.

Don't do this. This happened to me over a year ago and still no promo. They just want to get work out og you for free.

@OP sounds like extra work for free. These companies will use you if you let them

More work and more responsibilities at the same pay? Not just "no", "he-l no"
