Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Just WOW

I was thinking about applying for a tech security position.

Until I saw the hiring manager.

I am familiar with her. There is no way that she knows anything about tech security... And, she's a director. Like, she's an 'expert' in the field.

First time I've ever been like, "Yeah, Fidelity has D . E . I . but they have enough people to fill roles with talented people."

What people are saying is true. No way is this company doing well when I see this.

A HS dropout with ChatGPT would be a better fit for director than this individual. Just wow.

There are huge number of people with no degrees and people with bachelors in history or art as SVP's who are the dinosaurs who run this place. Also, the converts from the world's biggest democracy who are also in quota. All SVP's are these dinosaurs who run this place. Ensure, you su-k up to them else you will be out

I recently had a run - in with a white female and a black female.

Both in leadership positions in tech.

Just WOW is the exact feeling I had afterwards.

Neither had a coding background. I looked, and both had basically project management work. LinkedIn is a wonderful thing for this sort of recognizance.

I feel bad for the softies having to work for these two.

The OP is obviously not wanting to be too specific.

I’ve noticed the same thing. HR is pushing unqualified women into tech leadership positions.

Just look at open recs and the hiring managers.

@a5 Much of Tech leadership is a Joke. Bill, Roger etc were never actual SWEs. Most of the people under Bill are not actually engineers. The system rewards non-experts to lead actual experts. It's mind boggling. It's become a vendor management and integration org. Not a single leader with an original thought and experience to do the work themselves.

@OP, define "tech security". Never heard of such term. Cyber security, security audit?

There is no way HR would push for certain hiring and promotions of genders/race OR do you think the DEI push has made it a girls/pronoun club? Why do you think this unqualified person would have gotten the role with what you describe is a lack of skills/ knowledge?
