Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Worried about the contact permission box

It's been ages since I applied anywhere. That question about contacting my current job really gave me pause. With how things are here, that could end badly. What's the general move for everyone else looking around quietly? I need some advice on this step.

Use the worknumber. Verizon will only verify your titles and time in title. That's it. So they can contact Verizon without it harming you in any way.

theworknumber.com shows salary - that is what VZ utilizes.

You can check theworknumber.com which is what the company uses to show your work history. HR won't talk to anyone.
Best to have a few you trust in the company vouch for you should the need arise.

@OP dont worry about it. I am sure you have good relationship with some of your colleagues that you can use as reference. By law, the only thing the company (your boss) can provide is confirm that you worked there from this date to this. They cant disclose the reason why you were let go, they cant disclose your salary.

@OP by law a former employer can only share your start date, end date, and last job title.

Legally, they can't retaliate. I imagine thousands are looking so if it does happen, you will be far from the first. And good for you, I am looking as well.
