Thread regarding Optum layoffs

What a complete corrupt company!!

Need to shut this down! As human beings how can we accept this from a company? How can we be apart of a blood money scheme like this? CLOSE THIS DOWN!!!! I used to work there…. This is 100% factual!

@bf Who misinformed you on the fallacy of being in a “nursing home” equivalent to being on a deathbed?! Yes, there is time and place for the goals of care discussion. Yes, some hospital admissions can ultimately worsen patient outcomes. However, it’s not for Optum or its remote “practitioners” to decide let alone to go over primary provider’s and family heads. As much as you try to sounds as a patient advocate the stench of corporate bias is obvious.

@bf laughable. 14th century herbs masters said the same cr-p when a kid died of a scraped knee getting infected. God called them home!

Get a grip.

@OP I actually find this article a bit misleading. I’m sure the lines get blurred at times. The fact is that a trip to the hospital for the frail and elderly (especially in a nursing home) often results in a worsening of health and a progression towards a continued decrease in quality of life. (While also draining and straining the health care system) I’d like to see hospice care / end of life care planning become something Americans are better educated on. The healthcare industry as whole needs to support families in the pursuit of being proactive with regards to this. As much as we love Grandma (or mom) if she’s already residing in a nursing home she doesn’t need man to prevent God from calling her home. I think these are more of a moral and also ethics based talking point than anything else. Allowing someone to pass peacefully (outside of a hospital setting) doesn’t necessarily equal negligence. We have so far to go yet.

Disgusting. I am embarrassed anytime someone asks me where I work. Pretty sure I am going to make up a name of a company if someone asks me over the holidays.

Read article in full. Absolutely disgraceful. Who remembers QuantaFlo that was abruptly pulled from the use? Follow the news.
