@OP I've noticed it for 25 years. It's not just me. Folks that I have worked with over the years from different departments have a proven track record of quality work. NO reason to hold us back from a title change. I told my last two managers to change my title out of respect for the time I have been here. Both said no in their own words and gave rather lame excuses.
Ever ponder why most people are AVPs? (Hint: "management" can't join a union.) Keep enough people in a AVP position and they are considered managers
@am+1kc43nnk7 - spot on, but not just favorites and cronies....
Be the whiniest, squeakiest wheel on this train-wreck of a place and I guarantee your manager will speak to HR about an (ahem) "accommodation" to simply please make this f-ing whining noise stop.
Squeaky wheel gets the juice. Now, you won't get more money, but if the title is important to you, then that works too (a lot less effort than becoming a favorite or doing actual work)
Bottom line: if you want more money, then focus on THAT. The titles are empty plastic shells that only matter to those people in the office you work with that you bi--h about not liking any way.
There’s a story about an actor on one of the Star Trek shows that was negotiating for more money. Instead of more money they offered to give his character a promotion.
His answer was pretty much “so on your made up show you’re going to give me a fake promotion. Instead of real money.”
Title promotions don’t mean anything. No one cares if you’re an AVP. it doesn’t mean anything if they’re not adding anything to your pay. People who care that much about their titles need a life outside of this place
People getting title promotions after being here 6 months. Many others that are dedicated people that have been here for decades and never getting a title promotion. Favorites and cronies get these promotions.
title promotions are a big joke at this sh-t bank, no pay hike, more responsibilities, more work, more stress, focus on getting more pay or do the bare minimum
This is the perfect time to convince people to take promotions without an increase in pay. Ask me how I know... they tried that s**t on me. F that.
