That’s it. Not that I get to work at an exciting company that helps develop and reward me for doing great work. It’s really to a point where I’m just thankful I haven’t been downsized.

@OP I worked for Amoco/BP for 40 years and when I was forced to retire I felt I would never get another challenging job. I was completely wrong. The jobs I received were interesting and challenging and paid significantly more than BP.
When one door closes another one opens.
Don't sell yourself short.
It’s self limiting to think the world begins and ends with BP. Back yourself and another door will open, don’t just stick with bp because you’re thankful to have a job when really you hate working for them. Life’s way to short to waste your time where you’re not valued or happy.
This coming from someone who left bp willingly, had lots of responsibilities (kids, mortgage etc) and navigated to a new job at a better company, similar pay. Was daunting at first and took time, patience and lots of coaching and effort but I landed in a better place.
I won’t go to much into the reasons for leaving but effectively it became difficult to stay, in many ways I outgrew the company and it could no longer meet my ambitions. It is a hierarchical political beast, but most corporates are and you need to accept that you can’t control predictable human behaviour. It’s not fair but that’s always been the case.
@13b If that’s the sort of questions you ask at a townhall don’t be too surprised if you are rated Development Needed.
“So what about brunch? Do I average breakfast and lunch? I had an experience 6 years ago in Trinidad where I had brunch. How should I think about this and also Linner too”
These are my questions I ask in the townhall.
Dinner sounds generous. Is this USD only?
Bp leadership are liars and self serving. New limits on meals are $125 for dinner, $20 for lunch and $40 for breakfast. Guess who has most dinners?
The problem is that our job security is determined by the personal thoughts of one VP and she manipulates the system to eliminate who she does not like, not performance or behavior related.
So they want to be laid off, but feel entitled to a job. That makes about as much sense as bps strategy over the last 4 years.
If you are young Stack cash and invest early so you can GTFO and retire by 40. Fu-k work in general.
Are you based in India, Hungary, or Mexico City? If not, you won’t have a job to be thankful for for much longer.
Everyone with a job should be super thankful and appreciative. But no, you have people like the ones that love to post here on how horrible everything is and how they can’t wait to be laid off. Their sense of entitlement is ridiculous and laughable because they think in their bubble heads that they are owed a job because of some inherited privilege.
