Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Stores closed that performed well.

So how come some stores that performed well on the leaderboard were closed? Because they didn't do enough volume? Well everyone in retail knows that they higher ups scold you for volume. They only want "quality" Some stores dug their own grave by gaming the system on leaderboard to be higher on the ranker.

IMO it's always been one of the worst parts about this job and part of the reason that they company loses out on so much. They would rather you walk a sale that retains a customer but whom isn't buying insurance, an add a line and 3 perks on premium.

The answer is simple. How would they pawn off a load of poor performing stores? It would be a difficult sell. They needed to have at least a minimum number of good in the totality of spun off stores to make it palatable to a buyer. Happens all the time in buying and selling in liquidation sales. A pallet of sh* might be sprinkled with enough quality items to entice a buyer to bid. It is nothing new. The technique is used in in auctions on Bay etc.

@1ah that’s the problem with Verizon and where they’re headed. They care more about these ancillary metrics than bringing in more customers. They scare people with performance calls for sh-t that makes the company pennies on the dollar. The one’s that cared about new lines where the ones that made money. Back to the basics for this company. Keep it simple, stupid!

@OP that's so true!! If all you would just focused on growth vs.these BS metrics your stores would not be in jeopardy of closing. You id--ts wanna sell less to inflate your non paying metrics 😅 $10 perk, $5 set up go🙄, oh im I can't access this account since they have a priority upgrade..lol its gonna hit my score card, and since they qualify for home internet that su-ks in some areas im gonna get hit with a percentage on the meaningless score card!! F*#CK!!! THAT acces that account and sell the customer a new line of service!! Stop walking out customer since they don't wanna purchase perks on new lines or in insurance!! The shareholders at the end of the day want to see growth!! 👀 Growth is KING!! You all keep doing this and your all gonna be shut down in the upcoming months! Put your Big Boy pants on and get your cry baby as--s to work vs feeling sorry for yourselves!!

so agents that have a commission structure that is based around gross profit actually make quite a bit of sense, and (IMO) more than Corp vz.

Thank you for understanding. We shot ourselves in the foot for years and are still doing it!!

@a4 GP, that is why the agents think they know more than VZ. Sell what pays, sell everything. VZ scorecard themselves to a death spiral

The mid-level managers force stores into revenue vs quality dilemma. We have walked revenue and customers for years because of crazy ranking and score cards. That's why our commissions never matches our initiatives. It needs to be about gross profit and make everything matter.
