Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Any Guesses as to which Macys are closing in 2026

I’m almost positive that my Macys is safe from closure because we are always busy. However, I was wondering if anyone had any guesses as to which Macys will close in 2026.

If you are in a downtown location, be aware that Macy’s dislike those locations due to high crime, high commercial rent, higher cost of living, lower profit margins, and inaccessible high parking rates for customers.

I’m looking at Union Square, Washington DC, Salt Lake City, Boston Downtown Crossing.

They’ve already closed Downtown Los Angeles, Philly Center City, Seattle, Portland, Pittsburgh, Brooklyn, San Diego Horton Plaza and many more downtowns.

@OP that means nothing- our store had the #1 score card in the district two years straight and they closed it.

That, and, with buyout pressure gone, they’ve lowered the threshold for go forward doors.

All will be surprised by how few stores on the list. Most mentioned here are not on the list. It will be 12-15 doors.

@de Not necessarily, is the building independent, or is it connected to a mall? Also, what is Macy's remaining lease length? If the mall is strong, they most likely would not let Macy's out of the lease.

If your mall is dead, the store is on the chopping block. Its that simple. If not this year, then next year. Tik tok

To the poster, NO Macy's are safe. If Macy's gets the right offer for the real estate owned stores Macy's will sell and close the store.

@a3 Inaccurate. Many stores are missing and many obvious ones are not even in the list.

@a3 you’ve got a few right. It won’t be that many. Only about 12-15 this year. Dayton Mall added to NN75. This years surprise will be stores that will NOT close.
