Verizon ignores Massachusetts 60 day WARN notification laws

The folks in NJ are getting their 90 day WARN notice.
In Massachusetts only 30 days, despite the 60 days state law.
What gives?

Sorry to hear many of you let go. The Act states that if a certain amount of employees being let go exceeds the threshold, then it is filed. If not, then it's 30 day.

It is based on the number of people let go within a State. WARN has a threshold rule.

@OP they get around it by paying a minimum of 4 weeks severance. Severance + notice = 60 days. Unlike NJ where they cannot just pay in lieu of the 90 days. Either that or there are < 500 employee per location impacted. NJ has one of the toughest most comprehensive WARN acts.

New Jersey has a seperate law that was past a couple years ago that gives us added protection

@OP It could be that they skirted it, meaning they didn’t RIF enough employees to activate the WARN act. Im speculating though since IDK if thats really the case.
