I didn’t think the new policy would be a problem until I checked my PTO balance after new year. They split your time into the new buckets and, depending on your state, etc. you could be forced to forfeit time not taken by end of year based on limits permitted in each bucket. I recommend you check the balance after Jan 1 to see what may be in store for you.

What if you don’t report PTO in workday until end of calendar year? I doubt anyone really checks anyway.

Only big changes I take away from it are they won’t pay out protected PTO if you leave, and if you max out your protected PTO, it’ll stop accruing. So, I would just use your protected PTO before your regular PTO if you’re worried about those two things. Nothing says you can’t do it that way
