Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Colocation and consolidation

So much for being star performer.

I'm in SMT, got rated as exceptional performer.

And this morning, I was told my position is strategically moved to NC where there are all the developers, including my manager.

I have 2 months to find a new role or accept severance

Have you thought about changing your pronouns, coloring your hair rainbow colors, be more woke and champion of DEI. You may be promoted and have great success

@b1 I'm certain I am much older than you. I had to do just that many years ago. I trained my replacement and gave them all of my knowledge in 3 months. It was awful, so I know how you feel. This will make you stronger and toughen you up ... It will make you more resilient and empathetic... Thereby a better leader. You will get through it.

SVP's the ones making these decisions, they are the snake of pit vipers. You have to be at least 20+ years or know your SVP in person else kiss your career in fidelity goodbye

I was laid off in 2024. I know the pain. It’s one of the top 10 worst feelings in life.

I survived it and thrive now. Are you trying to stay in Rhode Island? Let’s find a way to connect. I’m a software engineer from Rhode Island, too. I can connect you with a contracting agency I met who got me the job I have today.

Don’t do anything that’ll jeopardize your family. Many of us on this website are here to talk cr-p about Fidelity, but I am here to potentially help. If you feel comfortable, post a way to connect with you.

@OP so now apart from making associates slog through yhe holidays, fidelity is getting rid of associates around this time?

Sadistic is really an understatement, these clown straight up seems like a--holes from DOGE, no empathy, no respect or no respect whatsoever

These clowns deserve a special place in he-l for making mo--nic decisions

@OP There are many jobs opening for level 6 . There are many internal job posting for SMT locations. Just check them. FI / WI are hiring for SMT location. I will have something coming up in a month and part of one the those BUs. You will get it within few weeks. I have seen many getting internal roles in weeks. Do not do anything drastic. Your family needs you.

Pretty sure you are young less than 40, here older people target younger ones and remove them. If you are young run for the hills, if you are above 40 this is the best place to be

If fidelity asked you to move for the role in first place and then had your role moved to another site, it’s really fu---d up

Quite sadistic IMHO, this should be a global headline on how fidelity is torturing associates by playing with their lives

PS: hope you haven’t taken any extreme step
Your family needs you more than anything, don’t leave them hanging. They will be far worse without you

I was laid off from Fidelity in 2023 when we were just weeks away from welcoming our first child. It pains me to see this happening to someone else. Please reply if you need someone to talk to, we can find a way to connect.

I hope you are still with us. Call 988 if you need to talk to someone. I have been laid off in the past and understand what job loss can do to you emotionally and your identity. It feels horrible but please remember this is just work. It’s just a job. It’s not who you are. And it gets better. This feeling is temporary.

I also would take the severance and start looking for another role.

Hang in there, I know the feeling that this place can literally take you to the brink of insanity, don't let them win, sounds like you have transferable skills, I would reach out to a recruiter and take the two months.

2 months is all you are eligible for? That's brutal 🥶

This is sickening, sorry it happened to you.

If I have to guess, I EXACTLY know who you are talking about as your manager.

That dude is the biggest snake, only favors their own kind, making top performers keep slogging while promoting slackers

Hang in there. Try to get off this site and get some quality time with loved ones. Nothing good can come of stewing here.

Not to defend your manager, but since your role was "strategically" moved, could be the edict was issued to your manager from higher up.

@ax
I am sick to my stomach about this and can’t believe I have to onboard this new member and pass on the knowledge, while looking for new opportunities

I really want to end this suffering

@aw Bro this is temporary pain. Don't be reckless and do something permanent. You'll make it through.

@am
I was only in the role for about a year, the project is almost complete,

They hired a new person to join in NC where all th team / manager is.

They made me move to SMT from Florida when I started.

I bought a house, my wife is expecting our first child

I feel like committing su----e 😵😩

I so want to expose the sh---y manager who has done this to me.

All I will say is my manager is king of snakes

Why is that? You don’t want to move to NC? Were u given that option at all? Is the severance good?
