Who is most at risk of being laid off? Is it based on salary typically or what is the criteria?

Probably does not apply to Oxy since most everyone WFH Mondays and Fridays.
If you are worried, there must be a reason. Saw on TV this week that you are 38% more likely to be laid off if you wfh rather than work in the office. Bosses like to see you mug ... Has you boss seen your face lately? Everyone I've known that outwardly frets gets the chop.
If you don't produce at least 300 PowerPoint slides each week and attend at least 10 meetings to present the same you're definitely at risk.
Agree. I asked about being layed off one time and the answer was “you have nothing to worry about”. The package I got was good. Since then I don’t ask.
The people with the highest risk of getting laid off are the ones asking about it in thelayoff.com.
@OP what happens if not enough people 60 want to take the package
The dept that make money….hr, recruiting, marketing, and any unnecessary depts will be gone. I’ve been through this before…..
What depts is safesst?
They should layoff all the unnecessary layers at oxy and flatten the org.
Lay-off risk is a lot more than it was before they announced the VSP. The lay-off will follow next year to cleanup what’s left over. It is kind of like when you have a bad wound you cut off tissue and send in the maggots for the fine tuning. At the end of it you left with a very clean wound ready to heal.
Chevron decimated Hess …
Risk? Significant when it is Chevron deciding.
Layoffs? They are a random number generator. This is when you hope you've been networking and have been visible up the food chain. People you have never talked to will make the decision. Your boss may or may not be able to save you. Seen outcomes of several layoffs that you scratch your head and wonder what intelligent life decided this. Layoffs su-k and there is no sugar coating it. Work hard, save your money and when the boss ultimately comes with a COC package you smile and take it. Good luck.
There are no layoffs period.
If there are layoffs, they will be most likely based on your performance ratings from past few years.
Difficult to tell at Oxy. Nobody is worth keeping, its all rejects from other companies and anyone worth their salt moved up to other opportunities a long time ago. For the 'best company ever' you'd think the choice would be difficult, but their reputation speaks for itself. Just look at how many times the 'Whats wrong with Oxy?' clown show has graced this board. Not exactly meeting for the local chapter of Mensa after you're done in Greenway Plaza, are you?
Lots of items. You have personality at the top of the list then accomplishments followed by skill base. Your reputation for being honest and doing a great technical job is somewhere in there.
