In Office Reporting - 8 hour coffee badge swipes

I live close to the office, no-one in my team is at the office and I find the noise of other people on calls distracting. I've been coffee badging for a few years now, it's worked out great, not showing up on reports.

The new 8 hours in the office mandate has me wondering if I can swipe and connect to the network twice on "in office" days, 8 hours apart and stay off the reporting? Has anyone done this successfully?

I know the policy, not looking for people to remind me of what I'm supposed to do...

@cc If you were already abiding by the rules, what 'price' are you actually paying? What changes for you?

People like @op are the reason we all get treated like kindergarteners. The coffee badgers were referenced in the decision to communicate the 8-hr requirement so it will be easier to immediately fire coffee badgers…but meanwhile, the rest of us pay the price, too.

This is band-aid to the co location problem. Just force the manager to move to where their staff are so they can manage and perform their janitorial duties!

@OP if that would've worked before (which is highly doubtful), it won't now thanks to you. what a mo--n.

@ab I’m not @op but I’ve been FA’ing for over two years and still waiting to FO.

I won’t attempt to justify what I do. I simply do not care about following the new rules and I am no slave to either the wage or this pittance of a severance that is dangled in front of us. I fully expect to get held accountable at some point, just no idea when. People have bigger worries if a maximum of 14 months of salary holds some significant weight over their lives.

They’ll never know. How would they know?

I have access to the logic of this reporting. I'm finding people like you and just wiping that you were ever in. Good luck in your future endeavors!

they could also pull vpn connection info and compare it against badge and local login activity. vpn activity before badge in or after badge out it just fine, but multiple hours in-between would be a no no. anyway, feel free to do what you want to do, just be willing to suffer the consequences

Why not just go in and do your job as expected by your employer instead of being a lazy POS?

It all depends on how sophisticated their reporting is.

My advice? Be the guinea pig who risks it all for a minor benefit. Then report back to everyone every 2 months.

Your "big plan" might just be foiled by someone ratting you out, just for spite.

I would only do that if I was OK with being fired with no severance. The expectations are pretty clear and your plan does not meet them.

I wouldn’t try it. You think they don’t already know this? Badge stuff supposed to be clear and last swipe. But they can also tell if you’re on the network or not.

Wanna get fired? FAFO

@OP

I believe they're tracking (or will be tracking) the location of where you're signed in, so I wouldn't expect to this work going forward.

Good luck!

Why the fu-k would you post something like this publicly? No one going to give you a definitive answer here, if you want to game the system, you have to figure it out by putting yourself at risk through trial and error. And once you've got it figured out,you keep that sh-t to yourself to avoid someone closing the loophole.

I swear to god,the internet has ki-led people's understanding of Opsec. You're probably the type of person who posted "my WFH routine" tiktoks and then complained when companies started cracking down
