Mechanical Engineer for Chevron of 5 years here in the Permian Basin, I make $152K base plus an additional 10% increase off that for living in Midland,TX and my bonus every year is around 45K, looking at the posts here it seems Exxon is just as Toxic as Chevron, but how is the pay since I heard y'all don't get bonuses?

dont join EM!
Might as well stay with Chevron as we're going to merge soon anyway. It's only a matter of time.
Fake news
Chevron seems like the right choice. Both are going to make cuts down the road, but at least you will have 5 more years at Chevron making you slightly further away from the blade. Stay away from FLS roles that sold to you as "promotions".
The real move is to jump to an independent for a big pay raise. Work there for a while and then go back to major at some point down the road as an experienced hire for another big pay raise.
Your making a great income with only 5 yrs experience. Stay where you are. XOM isn't going to pay more then that and I guarantee you the work life balance isn't as good.
Chevron has better work life balance in the permian. Xto is a sh*t show
Cash the checks while you can since they gonna dry up soon as your job goes offshore at either company
A friend of mine works at Chevron and got an offer from EM, it was less than he was making at Chevron and no bonus at EM. Probably not worth the effort for you to pursue.
I would hire you, if you are basing your judgement on a layoff board. This board is collection of the people who haven’t succeeded. So, if that’s who you identify yourself with, I.e., you think yourself to be a loser, then guaranteed you will not last long
@OP You’re underpaid.
At your experience level you should be well into the $200k range.
You can either leave, or quiet-quit and pull a side hustle to bring up your total comp. Be advised that pretty much every employer is low-balling candidates now, so manage your expectations if you go that route.
Good luck.
Stay at Chevron!
No bonus stay at chevron. Exxo su-ks.
