I was let go recently and I am planning to start my new company. Its very difficult to find job in today's market.
Enjoy your Holidays. Get ready for January/Feb. Prepare for your interviews.
If you are 40+, my better suggestion for you is to start your own venture.

@ba brother, you are wasting your time waiting on unemployment. After 6 m, you are still in Job market.
Note that you have to prove yourself in new job, not just clearing interviews.
Better start building your own business. Better late than never. Try something different.
@ax | With current Job market, not worth wasting time searching for a job.
You will have to job search if you want to collect unemployment. I suppose you could simply lie to the UE agency, but I think that could be a bad idea and get you into a lot of trouble.
@ax Agreed. I quit looking, at least for the time being (thank you, severance payment!). Everyone's being laid off and everyone's looking. Bad time to be looking for a job.
I'd been wanting to start my own business, just haven't come up with something I can or want to do. Been thinking on that for years.
Part of me is thinking of pooling resources with friends and others who were let go from O to start something ourselves.
Absolute truth my dear friend @OP.
With current Job market, not worth wasting time searching for a job. It is more work to apply for a job than to really be productive and do something useful for someone who values experience over AI and offshoring.
@ad | and can be done by a teenager
You haven't met the current crop of teens, have you ;-) Most aren't good enough to work in fast food.
I did the same and changed my career, O is no worthy to waste your time - after a few years nothing new learnt, the old or only internal tools used, daily tasks as sensless as it could be and can be done by a teenager, no higher education needed - the clue was to do it faster and faster. The faster you work, the more was expected by manager and told that performance could be better.
Could be in the same boat. Out of curiosity, what kind of venture? Something in the tech space?
