Ok, so the email confirming 80 layoffs came out today. Why wasn't Walgreens on the WARN list? I check it daily to try and guess when I'm going to get canned. I guess it will be a total surprise. How fun!

@a7 ok HR. Why this company time and time again has proven they don’t care about their employees. We don’t get good raises, we don’t even get the fair market wage.
I say share what you have redacted sensitive information.
@de they literally only post once per month. If your job is on the line you can do a little due diligence yourself once a month.
@OP Could you please post any WARN notices you see going forward? It would be helpful for us to know. I do check sometimes, but not daily. Thanks!
@bv Do you know when this will happen?
I heard next one will be AI team in IT department.
I'm a reporter at the Chicago Tribune, and I'm trying to learn more about the layoffs. Anyone willing to talk with me, even anonymously or send a copy of the memo? I appreciate your help and can be reached at lschencker@chicagotribune.com or 312-383-8547. Thank you!
@ab It's not shady, they follow the law. What do you think the company would rather do, file the warn, tell everyone they are terminated in 60 days and then keep them working? No, they separate and notify at the same time. If a Warn is required, the employees get an extra 60 days. If it's not required, they notify and severance starts at that time.
@ad That's not true. The threshold is much lower. I think it's 30 people impacted or something like that.
With only 80 affected the event did not meet the WARN threshold.
@ab I’d rather get that 60 days of admin leave, and the related health insurance coverage, before severance kicks in, than have it posted and forego that 60 days of pay and benefits.
Walgreens does it shady - they make the “effective” date 60 days later, so it won’t be on the WARN notice til the following month, AFTER the announcement is made.
@a3 No, people should not post internal company communications on here.
@OP Since they didn’t file WARN, the people laid off will get 60 days of paid administrative leave before their severance starts.
@OP Can anyone POST a copy of the email?
