Thread regarding Canon Inc. layoffs

Nor-Easter — NYS of Emergency. Yet no announcement about WFH. Know your rights!

When a state of emergency is declared and you’re a non-essential employee who could have worked remotely, but your employer still required you to travel in dangerous conditions, a court could view that as Negligence or Reckless disregard for safety — especially if:

• 🌪️ Officials explicitly urged people to stay off the roads.
• 🧑‍💻 You asked to work remotely and were denied without a valid reason.
• 🚗 The accident happened while following their instruction to report to work.

Emperor Sammy already seethes with anger over holidays and demands in office attendance afterward to "make up" for it...I doubt he'd care about weather. Hey...if anyone gets hurt or worse commuting in, that's one less severance to pay later though right? Hooray for cost cutting!

Not even a tsunami would be enough for them to cancel an office day. Well, not cancel, they would just make you come in Thursday instead.

The best you can hope for is power outages. But I could totally see them wanting everyone to work like it’s 1962. Hand write those orders, balance the financials with abacuses, communicate with customers through courier services.

On another note, Monday is Columbus Day, it’s very Anti-American to not make that a holiday.
