@ah - completely agree. I think that was first round of layoffs. I bet there are more. There usually is.

Can't speak to the IT / East Side of 3rd floor, but Development will be same-ol same-ol. For all the window dressing of "Agile / SAFe / Lean Portfolio" they will continue to implement pet requests from RonK, DavidS, HowardR while deprioritizing tech debt, bugs, inconsistencies, and requests from clients / FAs.

Enterprise group will continue keeping legacy in-house tools limping along. Wealth Tracker will continue to be RonK's vanity project - believe we were up to 8 or 9 competing approaches to simply retrieving data, add another for EDO. Salesforce will continue being driven by the consultants as in-house teams struggle to hold them accountable. Enterprise Data Organization will continue to be a pipe dream, with made-up milestones to demonstrate "data consumption" to Kyle.

Would strongly encourage those left to ramp up the self-celebration / cheerleading in your Iteration Review (Sprint Demo) presentations. From the names I've seen tagged Open to Work on LI, it looks like a lot of the more vocal folks trying to grow the department towards professionalism are no longer around. Any way you can find to endear yourselves to MM or her inner circle seems advisable.

@ah for a variety of reasons, this won’t work. Internally, there’s no data retention in place, so you’re apt to get results from 10+ years ago. A massive data clean up effort and a massive access and permissions clean up effort are both sorely needed, but management isn’t interested in doing any of this. Not to mention, even the developers at companies who were early adopters of AI know that they can’t just copy and paste code from AI and use it. It still needs to be edited to fit the environment and tested.

Stalled. Perhaps with less people. Major initiatives and issues unaddressed.

The problem at a fundamental level is people who started on the service desk have promoted into management and director level positions they don't have the qualifications and experience for. The other problem at a fundamental level is IT has no set strategy other than what it's told to do by the executives.

All of this has put them decades behind their competitors.

@OP I see it mostly being AI. It’s being pushed hard in the department. Developers now are pretty much told to use certain tools and it’s probably to just train these tools to get rid of high paid developer down the road. RK sees it as a way to save the company money and fatten his pockets. I would expect more layoffs to come even people were told “one and done”. I wouldn’t believe anything they say
