Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

If you left and are happy, where did you go?

I want to leave the industry but not sure what transferable skills I have. I’ve been unhappy here for a bit. So to those of you who have left and are happy, what work do you do now?

I am VERY happy. Left at the beginning of April after 25 1/2 years. Save early an often!! Just remember Fidelity doesn’t give two sh--s about you!! Take all the free money they give an exploit the benefits and tell em F off on the way out the door!

Went to Waffle House as an Assistant Manager. Had to reinvent myself. Fidelity left me with no skills that transferred to the outside world.

The bar! The place drove me crazy with its silliness, culture and fake people.

Do not sell yourself short. You DO have transferrable skills. Find someone outside Fidelity who you trust (family, friend, career counselor, etc.) to sit down with to go over what you currently do. Then remove the specific details related to finance, investing, retirement of your current job. You will find the underlying skills you can apply in another industry. Think about the things you enjoy most to find a good long term fit and consider it may not be business but maybe nonprofit, etc. You are only stuck if you let yourself be. Good luck!
