Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

All titles changed

Today, all the titles changed in the US, people in different functions seem to be in similar job families now. Sign of a new reorg?

@eb so if everyone’s title in my work group, and counterparts in other region - save a few, small number whose title didn’t change…is that indicative that those of us without a change are being culled?
But of the 4 coworkers in my region in the same/similar role - none of ours changed, and there are no others “of us” in my region/division. Just trying to make sense of it, and why ours didn’t change? The 4 of us don’t have overlap not backup ppl doing our jobs…?

Wow. Can very easily tell the demographic of the people that post here. Would not be surprised if it’s repeat users spewing the same rhetoric.

LOL I hadn't even noticed. I'm still a senior analyst, they just changed the meaningless BS that appears before it. Why do they even bother?

Oh. I see what's going on here. A title decrease is happening at the same time Athina is in India. Here's what it means...They're protecting Directors and above from the offshore activities about to take place. Those who had a manager title are targeted for offshoring.

Also, they won't have to pay out as much of the bonuses as they use to going forward.

It's a win-win for the Directors and above and stockholders. This is a corporate sc--w job!

Of course the people from India complained. They're about to lose their job to the family in India. You talk about the irony of that. lol

@c1 spot on. No one in HR lifts a finger unless it's for their own selfish reason. They certainly don't do anything useful without being compelled to.

Typically title changes at this scale is used to identify "duplication" and align all the roles in a certain area, and then do headcount. From there cuts follow (oh look HR found wr have 2x the number of foodservice sales we need, or we have duplicative finance in these areas now we aligned the titled, just some of them were titled differently). Something is brewing.

Starting September 21 (10x3), updates will be made in Employee Central (EC) for salaried employees as part of PepsiCo’s Global Job Architecture project. The project is focused on streamlining Employee Central (EC) organization and job definitions globally using internal and external data.

What it means for us: All Salaried Position Titles in EC will change. These titles appear in My P&D, Outlook, MS Teams, and other systems (ex: you see me today as “HR Coordinator” if you hover over my name in Outlook).

DSL Change Example:

Today’s Position Title = “Sales District Leader”
Post Change Position Title = “Field Sales Management Assoc Leader” (applies to all Field Sales L06s, regardless of sector)

KAM Change Example:

Today’s Position Title for a L08 KAM = “Cust Mgmt Assoc Account Manager”
Post Change Position Title for a L08 KAM = “Key Account Management Sr Leader”

Note: This is a technical system change only. It does not change the language we refer to these roles as locally (ie: DSL, TM, ZBM etc….). Please note this is separate and unrelated to our current ZOTF changes.

I heard that people in India panicked and complained to HR. Previously, a Manager would get the Deputy Director title, and a Senior Manager would get Associate Director. Now, everyone is just labeled as Engineers.

Notable changes:

Sector IT is now Tech Business Engagement

From the looks of it previous DPA employees are now in Technology Strategy & Innovation (previously known as transformation), D&AI, and enterprise architecture.

Some roles now no longer say “manager” and now say “principal” or “sr principal”

Can you give any examples of title changes? From what to what?

There’s a reason for the change. We’re just kept in the dark always waiting for the next chess move. PepsiCo please just rip the band-aid off and get it over with.

I updated my title change on LinkedIn, it showed as a promotion and I got all kinds of likes/congrats. Hoping that people who saw it noticed my "open to work" banner
