Firstly, I am so sorry that you and many other of my JNPR family are going through this, we are all waiting to be told; receiving a contract is not guarantee that you get to stay either for many supporting functions.
Did you get a contract and then a call? or, did you just get a 15 min call invite without a contract?
@OP ..So sorry to hear. I hope what I am about to say will help. I am in the "4th quarter" of my career and have been laid off 3 times in 25+ years. All 3 times the Tech industry was in a downturn and all 3 times hundreds of my fellow employees were also impacted the same week.
The first was in 2001 and I was devastated..(2001 timing was horrible for Tech and a few weeks later 9/11 happened). This caused a lot of personal introspection on what/where and how I wanted to work.
Looking back on that first layoff, it was a gift ..I ended up with the best job opportunity (and in a different functional area in Tech) and that never would have come my way had I stayed. This new area is almost always in demand..and higher compensation. All of it never would have happened had I not gotten laid off in 2001. I hope this helps..it could be a gift in disguise. Btw..it took me a long time to realize the gift....so hang in there..and please take time to rest, reflect, hang out with friends and family. Then launch your next chapter!
A depressing number of goodbye notices popping up in teams this Monday morning, and meetings that start and end because some key contributors got notified.
Seems the director levels were warned about things coming their way, for at least some of the ICs it seemed to come as a surprise today.
Just got notified. I am in the US. 10/3 last day. Severance details haven't been shared yet. I am the OP. All the best to everyone.
15 meeting was WFR notification for me. Oct 3 last day. Termination email came within 15 minutes of the meeting being final. A personal email is collected in the 1:1. Good luck...still an overwhelming amount of talent looking for jobs in this market. It won't be easy, but good to have clarity.
Good luck to you @OP hope all is well. Please share if any hood news.
What was the meeting about?
@OP Me too...coming up shortly.
Not the end of the world. In a few weeks you will be looking back, happy to be moving on and up.
Good luck buddy!
@OP Could be something else too. Don't lose hope! Which country?
you will be gone in 2 weeks
