How RTO is most likely to go down

Not sure but if I had to guess: a RTO mandate requiring relocation or payout would be the way they would go. They are in the business of making money. They don't care about our preferences. Remote workers in multiple states is complicated for businesses. Centralizing employees into two hubs simplifies payroll, labor laws, and union negotiations. (This is only my guess, however and yes it su-ks.)
OP: @ar+1k4ddzsgq

Bumping this up for visibility. Unfortunately, this seems like the most likely scenario when it comes to locations.

@ak I used to work at Morgan Stanley many years ago “remote”. My team/main office was in NYC, but they let me work out of the Atlanta office near my home. We had an office manager who had a direct line to my boss and my boss would check with her from time to time to see if I was present. All conference calls needed to be done in office. I only hope our leadership can provide something comparable.

You have 2 choices. NY and LA. If you can’t make it you will have to quit or get fired. They hope you don’t take the severance. It’s easier just to fire you for not showing up. Once they get to their savings amount they will hire where and when they need.

I'm a Coordinator level employee assigned to the Nashville office (CMT building). I'm hoping they keep that office, as I'm planning to not take the Phase 2 buyout and see where things go by Q3 2026 if November comes and goes for me.

I do have teammates in both LA and NY though who are facing the quick and hard decision others in their regions are facing, and most of them do have difficult commutes, some worse than others.

@ag HR keeps saying that you’ll report to your team’s main office. Not possible if you are remote and hundreds of miles away. I WANT to report to my local CBS station. Just give me the chance to do it. I don’t want to leave my team.

@ag Nashville would make sense with Oracle HQ headed there. We're supposed to become a tech company, make that the tech hub.

I doubt they will only have 2 offices whatsoever in the whole country.

@OP I don't think it is that. We have over 250 locations in 26 states. They just want people to quit. They are also building out a low cost center in Nashville
