Exxon seems to have a grudge against every employee equally. No one is safe, no matter how hard you work. There’s this pervasive sense that management actually enjoys playing games with people’s livelihoods. Whether you’ve been here a year or twenty, it’s all the same. I swear there’s just a bunch of sadists at the top.

OP speaks the truth. Since EM lost its way 5 or so years ago, it's been every faction for themselves with many sacrificial lambs led to the altar. The old quasi- military sense, reason and systematic with processes are gone. We are still waiting for a renewed, meaningful work culture to appear and it hasn't arrived yet. Now it's just a collection of disjointed factional narratives to get by. It shows in the stock price as well, not fooling anyone. Good luck to all.
those who say hard work will protect them are fools. exxon is a f ed up place like bizzarro world. A place where everything is backwards or sideways depending on the management. If you are good this cycle thongs will change. Upper management changes every two years and you have to know to please the new masters. It is hard to survive ten years much less twenty years. A new reorg is on the horizon and will shrink the company into a smaller organization. I would like to see one of the young ones when they are in their 50's dropping in ranking. It will happen to you it is just a matter of time and age. I was highly ranked and could do no wrong until my 50's. Everything I did was wrong and scrutinized by the managers. They wanted me out and I left at 56 and never looked back or regrated it. I too believed that I was one of the chosen ones never to be nsied or piped but it happened to me and it will happen to you.
I work at Exxon and you're a re--rd if you think this is the case. It's a corporate company; deliver results and you are great. If you think you're awesome, but you're ranked low... suprise buddy... you ain't that great.
I am part of a team where people are incentivised to drag on projects and management also is territorial protecting their own job at the expense of the company’s time and resources. I tried to challenge status quo ( behavior exprctation..its all BS now that i know) and got dinged in my ranking instead.
if you have any i tegrity Exxon is not the place for you.
truth is dangerous at Exxon, those who are in management positions are there because they can lie to save their own livelihood at the expense of creating misery for others. and the lie propogates. each voice that challenges is silenced.

Yes I feel like they truly hate me. The supervisors and managers have purposely targeted me and made me an outcast. I dont care though I am close to retirement and will be a pain in their a-s for a few more years. The upper management loves the ki ss a sses and su-k ups. Those who question authority are punished and doomed. Righteousness and truth are not welcome and only spreading the company gospel is tolerated.
@a7+1k3vheaqm Seeing quite a few colleagues resigning last month or so, have to expect this to increase in the new year. The majority of folks in EM are di-k and tired of the disrespectful culture I'm sure.
