Thread regarding HCSC (Health Care Service Corporation) layoffs

Layoffs??

Soooo is it just the rumour mill or are we seriously having layoffs next year? I know that our department has had budget cuts and there have been no promotions this year, but should management gear up for layoffs? I say management because historically upper and middle management have always been on the chopping block.

Can’t wait to get promoted so we can take over the blue states too.

@pv "we" meaning those who don't know when and if a layoff will occur. Somebody knows, just not us.

Well, some select people know exactly what and when layoffs or reshuffling is happening. We just don't know yet. I would guess if membership and reimbursement is down for 2026 then some tough decisions will have to be made.

@j2 “No one knows what is happening” is objectively false. You don’t know what is happening, by design.

No one knows what's happening. My view is that they're trying to get through this first go round of healthspring/ BCBS selling period before anything dramatic happens. If a layoff happens it will be to consolidate leaders on the blue/ purple(?), and HCSC side to align with a more typical corporate structure. Leaders have also been voluntarily leaving because they knew they would get reshuffled or have to take on more than they should. Tbh, I think we've seen the most they're going to do beyond a couple of surprise names leaving at the end of the year (as is the norm).

This would be the time to align yourself with the leader(s) who will survive the hunger games and maybe you'll come out with a promotion, because other than that, you're stuck in your role while they figure out the aforementioned sales cycles of the blue/purple products.

I think they’ll wait for the full year post close on Cigna to do anything. Which would be spring

@dm I can actually see layoffs happening this year. They don’t want to do it around bonus time.

At this point, it feels more like a matter of "when" and "how many", rather than "if".

They've been shedding contractors at a crazy rate and more coming soon. I think they will finish that first. If a layoff happens this year, will probably be right around the holidays, wouldn't be the first time they've done that.

@OP you’re optimistic with “next year.”

Next year? Try this year. We’d have already done it by now if our leaders had any decision-making ability.
