Hi All,
I was impacted by Layoff recently and got offer from Micron Folsom (HBM) and another competing memory company (WD/SD) in Bay Area recently for mid engineer level role. I am looking for views on how the Micron work culture/yearly performance refresher talks is as I heard about the extremely competitive bell curve based performance review few years ago (is it still present?).
Also, how do you feel is the stability right now for atleast next 2-4 years as I have been recently impacted and wouldn’t want to go through same again, need some stability from personal life perspective.
Thank you!

AI is rapidly replacing senior managers at an unprecedented rate, raising questions about the necessity of traditional middle management roles. Looks like it's your turn to handle cleanup duty at the Boise landfill

since the number of indians reached a critical mass in both
@OP neither is known for its workforce stability

"Work for cheap, stay quiet, don't get put on a corrective action, and stay young and you will likely survive a layoff."
Really! You have some sort of hidden access to the fountain of youth.
Usually with age, you gain more knowledge. If this wasn't true,
we would fire most of Congress and most professors.
Your age and how much you cost the company will be a large factor in surviving a layoff. Being a high contributor is not enough to save you if you are expensive and older. Also, if a senior manager wants you gone you will be gone. Work for cheap, stay quiet, don't get put on a corrective action, and stay young and you will likely survive a layoff.
Micron is not a place of stability right now or in the next 2-4 years. Layoffs have been happening for several months now, but because less than 500 people have been laid off each time, the Warn Act does not apply. Layoffs were just announced again yesterday and we have to keep it hush hush. Offshoring of DRAM and NAND to Asia continues, probably soon to India once Assembly and Test is up and running as well. At least we've been offered several months of severance pay.....
The AI bubble will pop.
The micron shares will drop and layoffs will ensue.
Since you probably will not have any connections to "upper" management
in that short of time, your name will be chosen.
You will be dropped off in Boise where the housing is massively overvalued due to the Covid bump and where there is very little science/engineering.
If you are Indian on the other hand, you may have a slight chance of staying on.
