where is the charity sale money going? Some suspect into Belk’s pocket

Belk’s charity sale has always been a source of controversy for those who suspect not all the money is going where it says it is.

In store (at the door) cash donations are untraceable and there is no accountability as to if all the money is actually making it to the charity or going into the pocket of the person collecting the donations.

Register donations go into Belk’s pocket and then are supposedly divided up to local charities…but what charities are getting these funds? Belk needs to be more transparent as to how much and what charities are receiving the funds.

@2wz. You sound like a typical Belk shill, insulting and gaslighting people. You would be a perfect Belk store manager.

@ad ticket sales go into an envelope?? No it does not. The money goes into the till, and cash office does not collect it. All is deposited. Uneducated people making ludicrous accusations! It is all itemized in the system and they do share all the information… your pay grade/job description must be low and not privy to the info. If your manager doesn’t post the weekly Monday newsletter (I bet you just don’t read it) all info is shared.

A customer in store doing a pre order has no idea where that ticket $$ is going...an the store isn't posting number of tickets sold they only care about pre sell...its not like we have a list in the store for the customer to see all the charity's that are part of the event

Now is someone stealing $$ probably not but the reply is interesting to show how easy it would be....it goes back to being transparent...which Belk struggles with in general.

Charity sale obviously has flaws or every other retailer would be doing something similar ...

@OP they push charity sales yet when it’s over we never hear how much money we collected and how much we gave to the charities. When I’ve asked I was told we’ll get back you y’all on that. It would be a nice motivator to actually see what we accomplished for the charities.

Also...these store managers inflated everything..
RVP how many charity's do u have
SM 10 in actuality 5
RVP Get more....

RVP You made your number great!...do u think they are calling anyone to verify anything? NO
That would be a very uncomfortable phone for them to make when they have no relationship to that charity...

SM makes 70 a year...some charity day $$ from a register assigned to a charity that doesn't exist is a nice bonus....

The people at the doors are the charity that it is going to, they get to keep the money they collect and put toward who they are representing. What Belk collects at the registers is divided up and going to the supported charities. Hope this helps.
