Over 65: Dell / Medicare / COBRA

If you are 65 or older, sign up for Medicare (Parts A and B) even if it means paying the income-based surcharge. If you lose your job, Medicare will only begin on the first day of the following month, and it can take time to get supplemental plans in place. COBRA will not cover you once you are eligible for Medicare. If you have an accident or a serious illness during that gap, you could be left without any coverage.

Who did you call? I'm hitting major roadblocks.

This is incorrect - COBRA is 2 months and is available WITH medicare (it is considered secondary but I called and they made COBRA primary) . I had 3 coverages for 1 month (cobra, medicare, medicare advantage) and it was fine. The biggest issue was making sure I provided 'proof of coverage' for prescription dr-g plan. Getting that from UHC was ridiculous.

If you are on spouse or member of household at different company insurance plan and not on Dell insurance plan you are safe.

Absolutely!
I was able to take advantage of the 2 months of Free Cobra coverage. This gave us time to get onto Medicare Advantage plan coverage.

I don't know if I should up vote your statement or down vote your statement.
