Definitely use Chatgpt or similar. Tailor every resume. Try to hit on the top few requirements in the first half page of your resume. Have it check keywords like an applicant tracking system would.

During one recession I did 300+ applications manually, it eventually worked out. Good luck!

@OP Are you tailoring your resume to each job. You have to these days. You also need to use chatgpt to pull out the keywords from the job description to ensure they are in your resume. That is the only way to get through the automated tracking system first and then to a human!

As someone actively applying out to large banks. Whatever you do, do NOT use any AI resume writer. Companies have scanners to detect and it automatically rejects your application.

Companies aren't hiring. Just like households aren't spending money. The economy is unstable, inflation is high, everything is unpredictable and chaotic. Even companies that are doing well will use this opportunity to lay off and cut costs to keep the bad publicity under the radar and blame it on the economy.

Having said that, try customizing your resume to cater to the specific job that you're applying to based on the job posting. HR uses AI to screen hundreds of applicants and only manually reviews those few applicants that have a top keyword match. Use ChatGPT to help you to customize our resume - it works really well. Good luck.

100% correct, you should probably seek out the services of a resume writer every 2-3 years and maybe even interview prep even if you have gainful employment its a good investment to do this just so you are prepared for the worst case scenario. Its like insurance.

Did you see the revised jobs numbers for May /June. Companies literally are not hiring. The postings you’re applying to are just evergreen positions that they aren’t actively hiring for.

The way your resume is worded and structured is very important. If you have been given your layoff notice, take advantage of the resources being offered. I was shocked at how much things have changed in just a few years that make it possible for your resume to even be selected for review. Not to mention that the job market is terrible given so many layoffs across the country, to include the mass government workers that were let go. Don't give up though, things will get better. August through October is prime hiring season due to budgets being finalized for release.
