Thread regarding Chevron Phillips Chemical layoffs

Cedar Bayou

Management caters to su-k as--s. They let the work horses do their thing but when it comes to listening to operations management always listen to the brown nosers. Also, way too much management. They could fire half the “supervisors” and “engineers” then maybe the company would be profitable. Operators are treated like garbage, if you don’t have a bachelors degree they don’t want to hear any of your opinions on operation. This one is for you JA.

Cedar has the best plant manager that I've ever worked for, he did big things overseas as well as Sweeny. Just give it time, things should improve.

@ma we should just fire everyone who wasnt there during the covid days when all the units were making crazy profits without all the extra people that think they are contributing

@fn the Fat and should be retired operators that never made it to supervisory level are now eating each other making suggestions about who should be laid off PATHETIC !!! You should add yourself to that list its like a nursing home in the control room.

I see a lot of operators making a quarter million a year just because they brown nose and are part of the “OPS teams” in reality they do work 12s and are almost every day at work but they are asleep in back offices and playing on FB and youtube those people need to be retired or given more outside work see if they work 12s.

There is definitely room for improvement at Cedar Bayou. I'm surprised the losses at that facility due to large project design issues have not resulted in demotions or worse. Those failures were bound to happen due to the small number of CPC engineers with advanced technical knowledge. We need to emphasize on increasing deep CPC involvement in the design phase. You also have to get the right experience involved. Unfortunately most front line engineers probably have an average experience of 2-3 years. That experience level will never ever make any significant contribution. There might be 3 advanced level process engineers at Cedar Bayou. Compare that to the number of supervisor roles HAHAHA

The imbalance is not due to employee talent. I think it’s mostly due to lack of salary advancement for individual contributor career paths. If the incentive was there, then you would have more engineers with 10+ years of experience. The 10 year mark is crucial. That is when technical understanding matures and sound engineering judgement comes to light. It is very similar to any sport. You will not become a professional in 3-5 years. At 3-5 years you still don’t know enough to know what you don’t know.

Cedar bayou

Baytown would be a great place to work if it weren't for the shady superintendent and his minions who cant seem to do there own job without being told what to do the lack of confidence and knowledge of these individuals is insane and they dont listen to the operators that know how to run the unit but listen to the ones who dont know sh-t and cater to the a-s kissers management needs to be cut down drastically and stop making up positions to keep non working people in charge of anything and DS is not good at his job and lets opinions from other people dictate how he treats others espically brown people and when you have people quit on you mid shift that says something and it needs to be addressed immediately but we know it won't happen cause the white way is the right way sad to say but its true.
