The whole point of selections was to cull the herd and eliminate mid level psgs. And even I have first had seen ridiculous shenanigans to get certain people into roles (jobs held to the PDC to get wave 2 people in them; jobs pulled forward from wave 2, etc etc etc). It was purely design to protect the chosen class, totally devoid of meritocracy. AND - Going forward we can look forward to smaller raises and less frequent promotions. Most of us will be where we’re at the rest of careers.

The selection process was strictly for legal coverage to make it difficult for anyone to sue. The leaders who designed the new org knew who they wanted in each role
When JK announced PSG 25 roles filled in Subsurface function after Wave 1 PDC even though it’s part of Wave 2, it confirmed that
- The selection period is an illusion of fair process &
- They either think we were too stupid to notice this blatant hypocrisy or too scared to say anything to anyone about it.
No shame
I don't consider myself a 'yes' person but I did get selected for a job in round 1. A manager whom I've had minimal contact with except for brief moments, was already strongly hinting that I had a position before jobs even came out in the round 1 psg 25 and below event. I was selected for a job that I did not want but I was realistically the only logical person for the role... I've struggled with trying to be happy about the outcome and have seriously considered just quitting because I'm worried I'll be stuck in the position long term. All this to say, I agree that the game is rigged.
I came to this website to write a very similar post to this, but since I found this already good foundational piece, I will just add my 2 cents here.
It is all rigged.
It is a cult, where they select and appoint ONLY cult members, with some poor cult servant until the little indian boy in Bangalore to replace them has been trained.
My manager informed our team (before the application period was even open !) that he was going go be demoted because his own manager was also going to be demoted into his position, a true domino effect of pinche pendejos.
It is all a big fakin farce, do not waste time with talent cards, nor with the most awkward introductions and "catch up" messages to hiring managers, nor with strategy calls with your useless rep, nor with your "buddy" that you hope will tell his manager that you are a smart engineer.
None of this matters, and you will just be wasting precious time that you should rather invest in polishing your resume and start applying externally IMMEDIATELY.
What a faaking disgrace, this company is the biggest disappointment of my whole life.
they've prioritized Yes people. Forget about getting results people.
Also don’t bother with talent cards
@ac Ha! To say that management should be ashamed gives them credit for having a conscience. But alas, they have none. They are soul-less sck ups who care nothing about the workforce. They are only focused on maximizing their own bonuses and their exit package. Scrwing those over who got them where they are today is just business as usual.
Tell me you're in ABU SCM without telling me. Their reorg was laughable, an embarrassment and insult as they gave non performers massive boosts to their super. Management should be ashamed.
@OP Totally agree with you OP. The beatings will continue until morale improves. Culling out the herd while protecting "friends and family" means that all that's left is the working class in the rank and file. With oil prices hovering in the $60's, there is no margin left for CIP and promotions of yesteryears. Peak demand may end up keeping oil prices depressed for the next several years. Buying into NOJVs without any real organic growth is going to be the end of this company. The C-suite sees this too. The most recent layoffs are just a pump and dump for them to grab their parachutes on their way out the door. I suggest that we all polish up our resumes because there is no future here.
