@68h It's PIP with option. Just a way to force out staff that don't gel with the new management.

@5bk Rumours are they are avoiding the 'layoff' route with a different protocol to keep costs down.

Quite a few people have been laid off in Nottingham and London, UK in tech. Fairly senior roles: mid to senior management. I think this started last year and has been slowly building momentum.

Agree 110%. I got excellent reviews over my decades long tenure, however once I got into my 50s, my reviews started to become average and then they decided to put me on a coaching plan at 60. They did everything they could to try to get me to quit. I decided to play along for my final 2 years. I left of my own accord, however, it was so clear how much they wanted me to leave, even though I still was doing a great job. They were much more interested in college recruiting. I retired fairly wealthy because I invested a lot of my paycheck in the mid 90s in COF stock as well as other good companies. I made double house payments, drove my car for 10 years, I bought a house that was nice, but not a McMansion. I made sure all of my debt was paid off before I finally left that toxic waste dump behind. I am grateful for having a job, but I am responsible for my own wellbeing. There WERE good times, good people and good things at the company too, but there is a Jim Jones type thing going on there. I had really good job offers over the years that I I interviewed for, but decided I would rather just tough it out, outlast them and make sure my family was stable. It started to be entertaining the last few years while I continued to do great work, but I did it on my own terms and made sure I felt like I was using them at least as much as they had used me.

Either you stay and realize life and work are not that easy, or you take action and leave and find a better gig. ALL companies have some awful 'stuff'. Before I came to Capital One, I had a couple decades at another very well known, large company. It had it's own set of issues too, but the toxicity and ageism and nepotism were nothing like Capital One. Of course, I was younger then too.

Just my two cents. BTW, I worked in both the UK and USA.

Age discrimination is rampant at Capone they enable that by terminating protected groups like older employees, women, and those that went in short term disability. I'm not in the UK but have fallen victim to it. It's not layoffs either it's being fired with fake PIPs to reduce severance costs and unemployment.
