Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

Gail is NOT a coach or leader

Gail is the worst CEO we have ever had. She does NOTHING to coach, motivate or inspire the team which, given her sports background, is a huge disappointment. I was so happy when she was appointed, thinking her coaching background and being a female, she would be a rockstar and she has been nothing close to that. Her scripted town halls are not motivational, feel fake and don’t really “speak to the team”. She needs to put on her coach hat and try to salvage the end of her career, or just leave. She has cost her employees and a lot of investors a lot of money in lost stock value due to her poor performance and lost employees jobs due to RIF’s to prop up the financials so she can hold onto her job.

@103 Larry Glasscock was the best CEO we have ever had. He put AIP in place and fought hard to keep it. He inspired the employees and was genuine. Gail is definitely the worst CEO in my 30+ years there.

I can say with confidence that her just-a-hair-away-from-weepy-televangelist vocal tone during all associate meetings inspires me to give my all to the company! THANK YOU FOR ALL THAT YOU DO FOR THE COMPANY (and my annual bonus of millions)...

She’s an eater, not a leader! Can you imagine the calories/day it takes to sustain that bulk?

I never had any hope for her after the way she handled a visit to our location shortly after coming here. She immediately exposed herself as arrogant, purely self-motivated, and having not an iota of interest in the staff she quite obviously considers herself above. There wasn't anyone who walked out of that room with confidence in her ability to lead, and many of them are gone now by choice.

The RIFs are short sighted and will likely reduce our ability to deliver effectively for our customers. But Gail has been an effective leader compared to what we had. Before Gail our benefits were only being cut. PTO was cut. Holidays were cut. It is under her leadership that we have parental leave for example. Or paid leave to take care of family members. She added holidays. Before Gail we were trying to be a “fast follower “ and we weren’t fast. We believed because we were Blue we were better. We would have died on our antiquated vine. So I give her props for what she did but I think we need a change. She has run out of ideas.

@OP

What does being a female have to do with anything?

Just like the couple caught on kiss cam at the Coldplay concert. Even id--ts can be elevated to or hired as CEO and the head of HR at companies. :)

Only thing she may be qualified to give coaching lessons on is boxing out.

@b8 She is still in hiding after what happened to BT at UH. Just consider how many lives she has ruined with these rifs and health care claim denials while she still collects that huge benefit package.

What's interesting is Gail used to host the quarterly Town Hall in a live setting, where associates could be in the same room with her.

Since her and the SLT are so hellbent that people return to the office, why can't she lead a normal Town Hall like previous years. If she feels the need to pre-record her speech, reading from a script, then she should allow associates to work wherever they please.

Well, we know where the ELT picked up their new buzzword 'Focus'. One or more of the ELT has been streaming 'The Bear'. :) That was the word the head chef used to the employees when reopening the new restaurant... LOL!!! What a crew we have running this ship!
