Thread regarding HCSC (Health Care Service Corporation) layoffs

Retail LOB layoffs due to One Big Beautiful Bill?

Since the GOP's OBBB is stopping ACA subsidies, BCBSIL submitted a 27% rate hike for 2026 and BCBSTX submitted a 21% rate hike for 2026... do we have any details on the impact to staff reduction in the retail-supporting areas?

Sorry for the d-mb question - but what is included in “retail lobs”? Just IFM?

It is not. They don’t send communications about RIFs or layoffs like that.

@n5 ok.

Anyone know if the previous post, about reduction in retail force, is from an actual HCSC communication?

@my from a time when folks weren't victims and when the org didn't care about who was on office and pivoted as needed to address what was needed. Do yourself a favor and read the history of why Blues first began and who started them...HCSC actually had a decent explanation of the history on their website...hugely different company now. Unfortunately

As a direct consequence of recent federal policy changes introduced under the legislation known as the One Big Beautiful Bill Act H. R. 1 (OBBBA), which substantially reduces ACA subsidy funding, we regret to announce that our organization will be implementing a reduction in our Retail workforce. While this decision is difficult, it reflects the significant impact OBBBA’s cuts have had on the affordability and accessibility of individual health plans. We remain committed to supporting our affected employees through this transition and continuing to serve our members with the highest level of care under these new regulatory conditions.

None of this matrered back in the day...HCSC was first conceived to cover folks unexpected healthcare. Stalwarts of Ken Avener, Frank Nicholson and many others strived to help people. What has happened to that dream is so depressing and all those building upon their foundations. Is truly sad.
