Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Humana has changed so much

Back in the mid-2000s, I used to proudly tell friends this was the kind of place you could build a lifelong career. Now I wouldn’t wish this job on my worst enemy. Employees are treated like replaceable cogs in a machine. No matter how hard you push yourself, it’s never acknowledged. The culture has shifted from supportive to downright toxic. And forget about work/life balance. Mutual respect is long gone as well. It’s all top-down pressure with no appreciation on the other end.

In one region it is impossible to move up. The leaders bring in their friends from Aetna. They would rather bring a friend in with no knowledge of the systems then to promote a qualified applicant from the ranks. They also have a psycho for one manager. Everyone is afraid of this manager.I don’t know what will happen with this reorganization.

@am you know RB spends more on groceries and spanx per week than your total earnings!

The hostile work environment is beyond what most people can comprehend. I have 1 year left before I can retire and I hope I make it to that point. Every day is a challenge due to leadership being hired based on who you know or who you blow and us devoted, long-term employees left holding the bag. Humana has a leadership problem from the top down.

It has degraded into chaos and daily emotional survival that is not healthy or normal in a workplace. There is constant dread and worry of rifs, turnover, reinventing the wheel 100s of times then blaming various staff vs being transparent that the workflow or plan may be faulty. Cogs indeed.

Agree! I blame it on the board trying to sell the company for the last 15+ years.

Humana Inc. is a large for-profit American! And THIS is why! Wondering if RB ( CIT) and JR could possibly live off 1/2 their salary?? Asking for a friend!

@OP You're not alone. Feel the same way. Sometimes it feels like talking to a wall with no responses, no reactions whatever, it turns out that people actually do not care at all! It is very sad to see good people turning into these at a toxic working environment.
