Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

You know what I've noticed?

The most engaged employees are usually the ones who leave first. I guess they still care enough to walk away, which, funnily enough, is the ultimate indictment of our culture.

Not even offended but yeah it's true. I'm quite unengaged these days and many around me seem the same way. Most of us do a decent enough job of hiding it from management , or are they also too unenaged to notice 🙄

@OP It's often the most skilled employees who leave first not necessarily the most engaged. There will always be individuals who believe they’re highly capable and keep sending out resumes, yet never get a call back. At some point, frustration sets in, and instead of reflecting inward, they look for someone to blame. That’s when the venting starts, hoping for validation through likes (Dopamine) and sympathy. Ironically, it’s the only co who looking to keep you.

Working at this company has been so detrimental to my mental health. I’m hoping to get to the other side of this situation soon, while slogging through depression. Ugly times.

I think most people who perform are riding out the bad job market until it turns back in the favor of employees and then they will see a lot of negative attrition. People want to leave, it's just a matter of picking your bullsh-t in the current climate. I'd rather stay where it's predictable until things settle down than risk a layoff somewhere after a year.

The culture has been poisoned here. I didn’t feel that way until the Union acquisition. Nothing against UB employees the ones I’ve worked with were great. But it’s like there’s been this shift for the worst in mentality among the higher ups since the acquisition occurred. Now there’s little reason to care besides the paycheck.

Yup, the one that cares left or leaving. I am staying because I don’t care anymore .
They don’t care about us, why care about them. They don’t even pretend to care anymore

I would have left already if the job market wasn’t so bad. I keep applying for things but haven’t had much luck yet.

I have never felt this bad about a job before. I used to be the person who was the positive glue of the team that volunteered. I was a Legend of Possible and I was proud to refer friends and family here.

I’m distraught over what this has become, and feel hopeless that I can’t get out.

I’m moving slower than I want because of burnout/depression/anxiety from years of abuse by my employer, but I’m working on getting out. I’m disgusted by the management and politics here. Truth is I could probably cruise for a while in my joke of a role, but it’s not worth my mental health. I see so many employees here with so much to offer, and they have been treated like hot garbage - including myself.
