For everyone who keeps claiming better workplaces exist - where? I keep looking, and there’s nothing good out there unless you’re ready to take a major pay cut. So please, instead of posting vague notes about how you quit Chevron and are now happier than ever, tell us the name of your new company. Share the wealth or shut up.

Bunch of narcissists. You wouldn’t make the cut outside of oil and gas. Over inflated salaries went to your head long ago.
I left two years ago, voluntarily. Now I live in a beautiful part of the country, professionally licensed and work from home. It’s not all about the $$$ or having an easy job. Most US domestic CVX locations su-k. I’ve been to most of them and wouldn’t want to live there even with what they pay. Horizons dropout, signing off.
If ridiculously high pay and not having to work very hard equate to a good workplace, I believe Chevron’s the one to beat.
COME ON Our Performance predictions for Permian projects are good because. we have a high density of wells surrounding us everywhere. Look at our predictions versus actual everywhere else we have operated and you will see its woeful. Agree our subsurface folks are way overpaid. They are however good sales people and so should have no problem finding jobs outside hawking goods Unbelievable that exploration still exists
@g7 Our recent exploration record su-ks but lookbacks on projects are pretty much spot on over the long term at least in the US. Might want to actually get some real info before spouting BS.
The only people in Chevron who make really good money for their output are the subsurface prima donnas. They are not that good as demonstrated by project lookbacks and exploration record but have managed to build a mystique and keep a mafia clique. Most of their work could be done by new hires. So they do struggle to find competitive of better opportunities out side. Most other disciplines can easily find competitive or better packages in other companies or industries.
I started OTR and make the same as I did
With this recent reorg they lowered the PSGs and many people were placed into roles below their current PSG. This will limit their raises and bonus. Unless you are in upper the management, the days of doing little for a lot of $$ are coming to an end.

You may be able to get unicorn milk at other companies but you could never work less than Chevron expects from their employees. I have worked for other companies and I can testify Chevron expects so little from their employees for the money we make it is insane....
Yeah I have yet to field an offer that can touch Chevron pay. I'll stick around as long as they'll have me and check my account when frustrated.
I’m in IT and moved to another non-tech company. I won’t name it as I don’t want to identify myself. Pay was flat but the culture is soooooo much better. Kind of like how Chevron used to be. I’m so happy I hopped off the titanic while I could.
If you’re in IT and your skills are up to date and in demand, I think there are definitely better workplaces than Chevron.
Chevron does not value IT.
Higher job satisfaction and higher pay should both be possible elsewhere, particularly in the US.
This is especially true for IT Horizons, who generally start a PSG lower than other disciplines in Chevron and often have up to date skills.
@bs+1jzhp21sd a 3 year Horizons could definitely get a 20% pay bump EASY...not through on the other end of spectrum though.
@OP, most of those threads and posters are trolls. This is why the tales of 60% pay rises and free jars of unicorn milk are always vague.
@cd the "@bs" on that post is very fitting
@bs+1jzhp21sd
I love sarcasm....
You haven’t been to Exxon, clearly.
I was a third year Horizons employee and recently EOI’d. Found a job in no time with a 60% pay increase, two extra weeks of vacation, fully WFH, and a promise of promotion to CFO in a year. The grass is always greener!
"20 to 80% pay increases" right out the door. Uh, OK. sure thing.
Anonymous posts are so much fun. You can post literally anything.
Depends a great deal on your experience and PSG. I had early career team members leave and get anywhere between 20-80% pay increases. Later career folks who are higher PSGs will probably have a harder time finding a new job with higher pay especially if they’ve moved into management and lost their skills.
I know people that have left to Microsoft and Apple in Supply Chain and pay is same or better.
Three people in my function recently left Chevron and received salary increases of 30–50%. Our company tends to undervalue certain functions while claiming to treat every function relatively equally — but that doesn’t align with the reality of today’s job market. If you’re getting lower offers externally, chances are you’re overpaid here. Enjoy it while you can.
Chevron on the whole is great. My particular team and department majorly su-ked 🫏 🥜 though, and there was no chance of me ever being able to move out of it, even more so with the new structure.
Yes, I will be taking a 50% pay cut, but it will be worth it to be away from the toxicity of a typical ABU team.
