Thread regarding HCSC (Health Care Service Corporation) layoffs

Biometrics Consent will allow the company to use security cameras to see how many days you are in the office.

Time to start wearing our masks again.

Never your employer your biometric consent, that’s what I’ve seen employment lawyers saying. Same reason you never give police biometric consent. It doesn’t fall under the same jurisdiction as keypad entry or manual password. The idea that HR is using it to track your office comings and going’s is giving them more credit than they deserve. They can’t even answer stupid questions about their own department without having to take 2 to 3 business days to sit around, scratching their heads and as--s about it. But that still doesn’t mean you should give them your biometric consent. Just spend the extra few seconds logging in.

There are a lot of d-mb posts on the layoff.com

I believe we have a winner with this one.

@OP Because you don't think this can be determined by just logging into the network? Are people this dim in 2025?

You don’t think you’re already tracked? The camera in your laptop. Cameras on each floor in offices, lobbies, etc. C’mon.

@OP Can we check if Shannon is ever sitting in his assigned cube? He took over a common space and it needs to be remediated before it is returned as such.

@az Stop being dramatic. Decline it. It clearly says you can change it at any time.

@aa it gives everyone the option to decline. Again, folks being hysterical and making up nonsense.

Cigna doesn't do this, so why does HCSC need to? Dropping something like this and requiring it to be agreed to within a week is highly suspicious. Like they don't want us to have time to think about it.

You can just decline if you live in Illinois. Illinois has biometric privacy laws. Don’t know about the other plan states though

This is absolutely false. It’s so IT can bring our tech up to 2015 standards and allow fingerprint/facial recognition sign-ins via our devices.

I wish the conspiracy theorists would understand the level of competence that would be required for our HR department to implement this for attendance-tracking purposes.
