Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

Don’t you dare go above and beyond at Elevance

I learned the hard way what a mistake that is. I busted my a-s, took on extra work, and for what? They promoted someone who barely does anything - right in front of me. It was a slap in the face. This place doesn’t reward effort, it punishes it. Do yourself a favor and find a company that actually gives a damn and treats people with respect.

@OP This company stinks, they are so cheap. HR does nothing when you get bullied and targeted by your manager for working too hard. There are very unprofessional people working there too.

@ab NBC nightly news does a series on the cost of denials. I am sure they would be interested in an employee of Elevance sharing their story about their denied claims.

Ask IT people who lost their job - their $$ was dependent on the knowledge sharing success of the id--t they had to train. If the id--t could not or would not do their job the IT person was blamed and did not get their package. How's that for nasty workplace strategy and ethics

@pe honestly what did you expect? I just teach mine in the most vague fill in the blank gate keeping method. So you cant say im not doing my job but they cant do theirs without me. Silo'ing per say.

@ac I was asked to teach offshore foreign claims and they completely took them away from on shore.

@OP I watched the same thing happen and even worse the person wasn’t even knowledgeable at the line of business.

@ac get ready to find a new job. Once you do KT, you knowledge is no longer valuable.

@b4: Don’t think it’s just you getting a “meets” and only a 2% raise. I regularly got “exceeds” and still got a 2% raise. My manager was straight with me and said that’s all that was budgeted for our department for raises. Others on my team got the same 2% whether they got meets or exceeds. Didn’t have anyone who got a “needs improvement”, or at least that admitted to it. Finally found something outside of healthcare and moved on.

I worked so hard, for so many years. Canceled PTO for "fire drills", when above and beyond for >20 years. Did the work of two people... and never complained. Was given "meets" for over a decade... despite working so hard. 2% raises was my "reward". Found out that I was so underpaid compared to my peers that I got a raise by mandate from HR., Then I was asked to "train" a few others on some of my duties..... Was RIF'd two weeks later. Do not give one ounce above "meeting" to these people, you will never be recognized for it.

@ah agree use your PTO and sick time because I was so naive that I believed I was transferring my knowledge to work along side the people I was training and was on a strict 2 month plan to get it done then was let go and I had a ton of PTO and sick time.

@ac Start taking your PTO if you haven’t been. Don’t make it easy. The faster you transfer your knowledge the quicker you will be let go. Knowledge transfer is never good.

@ab call your local news and see if they will do a story about it. Usually gets some movement. This happens all the time because of our antiquated systems and moving processes offshore and riffs. No one has a clue what is going on anymore. Also could be a tactic to not pay the bill or your provider is coding something incorrectly. But this is how things work now at Hellevance.

@ac I hate to be bearer of bad news but it could mean a riff is going to happen or job is moving offshore. I would say it’s because your manager wants to improve your work life balance but nobody in this company cares about work life balance.

I work until 9 pm everyday, now I am asked to transfer knowledge. I am worried what it means. Are they letting me go after I transfer everything I know?

Is anyone being asked to transfer knowledge?

Anthem SU-KS!! They won't pay on my surgeries...tens of thousands I paid out of pocket for LIFE SAVING procedures. Yes I appealed and it was denied. Anyone know of a good lawyer that's had success in suing Anthem?

Yep. Not even an, "attaboy," if you work weekends, early, or late. Just more ridicule.

These people make me sick. Hopefully one of my interviews turns into an offer. 67

a2 same! There are so many people on my extended team who I swear do not do a thing. Long ago I decided to not be mad about it, just do the bare minimum and be cheerful. Most people don't know enough to know if you are effective or not.

No good deed goes unpunished. If you do extra they expect extra and without merit or AIP to compensate. You can’t even get impact awards with dollars tied to them anymore. Don’t do more, do less.

@a1 in IT, you only have a job if you are a certain gender and culture. Bias and nepotism are HUGE, and they get away with it over and over.

@a1 Or your coworkers throw you under the bus. One thing I learned working here is you cannot trust anyone. Don’t share anything about your life with anyone. Someone will figure out a way to use anything you say or do against you.

I agree. The only way to move up in this company is to brown nose. Hard work and sacrifice mean they expect that and more. You get promoted by creating pretty slide decks and talking points for your boss.
