Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Fresh off the press

A few colleagues that I know have connections to the ELT report that they are having some high levels meetings about the uproar these layoffs have caused. They are monitoring social media and this site. Mike Wirth and Mark Nelson are pi---d and the consensus was that they should stay out of the public eye until this blows over. There is real concern about the employees pushing back and disrupting this layoff event.

There's some incredible irony that if indeed ELT is monitoring social media*, they ignore the best, most reliable source of information - talking to their employees. They're right down the hall (well, on a lower floor), and I'm sure all employees have an "open door" policy.

  • they aren't. They have flunkies and minions doing this, and they get a "filtered" version.

@kv if they supposedly have to send them at all, where's the numbers for Houston?

@e3 I wonder why they sent numbers for Midland to the state, since they don't have to apparently.

@br Texas doesn't have specific language regarding the WARN notice so chevron is complying with federal laws in Texas only. We received our emailed WARN notice so they're in compliance. Nothing more needs to be done. Would a 30 second Google search ki-l you?

All the layoffs Mikey has initiated, and he still does not understand that these events should unfold and conclude quickly. The level of employee frustration and loss of productivity having layoff events spanning years from first rumor to last employee with a box departing is unforgivable.

TBH, the company would still survive if we cut 50%.

Real news is why WARN numbers aren’t filed with the state yet.

Sounds like the consultants forgot to mention to expect negative feedback from the thousands of USA based employees that are being throw away like paper bags.
Major oversight by the consultants and ELT for not realizing what’s it like to be an average employee at Chevron. Sheesh ….

Time for the class action lawsuits.

Anyone know a good firm?

Let's do this.

Already can tell you the training I did have to get people up to speed from other countries, it made it clear this was going to fail.

Would somewhat explain the constant security warning emails.

If they didn’t see this coming they’re even more disconnected than anyone would have guessed. They probably think ENGINE is actually on track and coming along well because that’s what their feckless LT is telling them.

Judging by the HR anonymous postings, yes, they seem pi---d and have sent their minions to this site.

Mike and Mark are doing battle sh--s in the morning while monitoring this site? Nice but expensive ritual considering how my they are paid a minute.

I don't think they care. They've got bigger gripes day-to-day (inability to find oil, inability to deliver projects, explaining to the board why their org is incompetent).

That said, Chevron probably should have just done a rank and yank with little notice. It's worse for your line staff (no heads up), but it does preempt the 18 months of whining.

Completely False, but nice try. You're really not that relevant and neither is social media.
Get over yourself.

They’re getting paid millions of dollars. Why would you think they care?

Post ID: @aa+1jw94j5yh

I doubt they care. They have destroyed an elite company and while they probably believe the balance sheet is ok for now the impact of destroying a proud, quality culture and their complete decimation of long term employees over the last 5 years has made recovery irretrievable. It will be a long decline. Mike - take a photo as this was truly your Kodak move.

@OP what? They thought we would just sit back and humbly take the loads of BS shoveled on our heads while they give themselves raises? I’m shocked!
