Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

A meme that explains why Citi can’t draw or retain top talent for very long.

There’s a meme I saw that rings true:

“I found a software error that’s costing the company 18 million a year at the company I work for but I haven’t told them because they told me “no” when I asked for a raise”

Citi though has another spin on it: “Frank found this software error that was costing us 18 million per year. He fixed it. Instead of rewarding him for a job well done, we can just tell him that its BAU ‘its your job’ and not reward him for even more savings for the company by not paying him a decent bonus or raise. Its a win win….well not for Frank of course but that’s his job”. Then turn back around and give Jane a monstrous raise\bonus\stock options.

Jane had a political agenda she wanted to appease.

I don’t have a word to describe Citi. This place laid off employees with Masters degrees in favor of people who barely graduated high school in the 70s and 80s. How can anyone take a company who does this seriously?

Post ID: @wg+1jkegc8zv In every bank or companies in general, Not every department will get bonus and/or salary increases.

In general and overall, GS and JP pay better than Citi. Most departments and employees in GS and JP have comparably higher salaries and bonuses than Citi employees who do the same job.

: @vz+1jkegc8zv Employees at Chase and Goldman recently told that they got zero hike and bonus. Atleast Citi gave us reasonably good this time.

If the OP's scenario happened @ GS or JPMC the employees will get a better bonus than the previous year and his/her diligence will be duly noted so that he/she will be at the front of the line for promotion consideration after saving the bank $18 million.

I worked @GS and JPMC and I've seen this happen.

But @ $hittibank, they find excuses, nickel & dime to NOT pay excellent employees decent salaries and bonuses

($hittibank reserves that money for Undeserving CEO Insane Jane, her MDs and Directors).

And so, the good or excellent employees end up quitting $hittibank.

Other employees witness these miserly games $hittibank plays, and decide NOT to put in the extra effort or work because they're Not getting rewarded for it anyway!

Your post and information is a good warning to Svckers-Employees who might otherwise waste their time, effort and false hopes in getting Job Referral money from Mendicant $hittibank who's blood-Svcking every Penny out of Employees.

In conclusion, do NOT bother referring friends, relatives, former coworkers etc. for $hittibank Jobs because you will NOT get any Referral Money from $hittibank.

Post ID: @OP+1jkegc8zv OP, there's a fine line between BAU=part of the employees' job, AND extra effort/work/go above and beyond the job description.

After the employees got FVCKED OVER by $hittibank on their Bonuses and Salaries, who's to say they discovered a "software error"??? Let $hittibank sh00t itself in the foot. Maybe it's BAU or a Normal part of operations.

Since $hittibank is playing this game of what's open to interpretation, Employee's can play this Bull$hit game too.
$hittibank is nickel and diming employees because it's penurious, Dysfunctional and Not profitable.

$hittibank and other posters are saying, finding and escalating the "software error" is part of the employees' job anyway, so No or Zero Bonus and/or Salary increase for the Employees.

FVCK employees Over on the Bonuses and Salaries, and We will NOT go the extra mile by pointing out any "software error".
I didn't see anything. Ignorance is Bliss.....I wouldn't know to act or react to something that may not exist !

Post ID: @1ac+1jhnrcfzy The new hire who supposedly started in November 2024 you're talking about in Risk Management, quit Citi after only 6 to 8 weeks. LOL!

He disregarded COO Anand's insouciant, oblivious, Brain De@d and AS$ININE Townhall lecture, "Don't Chase the Money", and instead Chased the Money at a competitor. LOL!

He's now a Director and Head of a whole department. My guess is that his base is US$250k to $350k.

The job he left at Citi after lasting Only 2 LONG Months! LMFAO! was in NO way paying that much money since the Global Directory showed his C-level and Team. I guess the price tag was worth it because he most likely burned bridges at Citi.

Two other reasons why C can’t draw top talent are…..

  1. ) People can read the news and they see the regulatory fines and law suits and are leery to jump on board especially when comparing growth of our peers.
  1. ) The job referral process is busted. You make a referral for a specific Job ID, they gather all the referrals, close out the posting, a few days later create another EXACT posting word for word for the same job title, same manager, same group, same location. The only thing that is different is the Job ID which makes it a new job posting. They then contact your referral and speak to them and ask them to apply as they are a good fit. This whole process negates YOU getting that 5K referral fee. When you inquire about it you are told its a new posting and not the one you referred them to. My response to HR is that its quite the racket loop hole they have to get out of paying that 5K. The exact response I got was “Well, it works.” This has happened to me 3 times now. You can pull up the old job post and compare to the new one and again, its a word for word comparison with the only thing different is the job ID. A new posting with new ID opened the day after the original post closed out. Rrriiigggghhhhttttt……

Now I know what you are thinking. “They have to be hired and employed for a year, then you get the 5K.” Yeah, I know and its all unfolded exactly like that. They got hired and are Citi full time employees, again, no cash. When you got to the referral process PDF that’s out there there is in print the clause of “Citi can at anytime, change, alter or cancel the referral process whether its in progress or not.” or something to that effect.

So you get to a TH and you’ll have a MD tell you about how awesome it is and how they referred someone and thought nothing about it and low and behold they got 5K. Yeah yeah….they give out just enough of the 5K payout for it to keep the appearance alive. They most assuredly made sure the MD who made a referral was to get his 5K so he can tell a good story.

Right about now, someone is thinking about chiming in with “Well if you make a referral that’s a good fit. So the company benefits, you benefit, everyone benefits and it makes the company stronger as a whole and the stronger the company, less chance of layoffs so in that, you also win.”. Yeah, yeah….

Overall its an example of how Citi looks for creative ways to look good and present the appearance of “doing the right thing” when in fact the actions speak otherwise. The over use of obfuscation and twisting of words and interpretation.

So you fast forward to the VOE and you give them a neutral or lower rating on questions of company honesty.

i do not think you should get anything extra for doing your job. I approve money movements for ridiculous amounts of money and I catch errors on a weekly basis that would result in possible financial loss to the bank as well reputational risk. I do not deserve anything extra for doing my job, same as you shittaybank dude

Could it be that Frank found some botched code his newly promoted MD wrote when he was a VP a year ago?

Could it be Frank's job to monitor and it failed on his watch? Should he be fired instead. Not matter how this boils down, there are losers and winners. The winners may lose but won because they kept there sanity. The losers may win because they lost their own way and went for tasting things that are smelly.
