Thread regarding Anthem Inc. layoffs

Is that a bad idea?

Some write here that they informed their manager to sign them up in case of any future layoffs. I would do the same, but I'm afraid of the negative consequences. Any advice? I believe that you need to have an excellent relationship with the manager in order to do that.

I'm among the people that did let my manager know I will be retiring in 2 years and if ever layoffs come around again that will affect my Team .. just consider me first ... she did say she appreciated my honesty and that was a couple of months ago. Just today I got a meeting invite from her .. I would say out of the blue for tomorrow .. meeting subject "Discussions" ... wow ... don't know guys .. they might be finally calling my number up .. not too sure to be happy or sad about this ... nothing I can do about it .. what will be will be ,,, wish me luck ... was just hoping I can make it till the end of this year to celebrate 25 years working here ...

No, not 2%. Maybe more like 20+% to over $19 million in total compensation. Median employee salary around $51k.

If you are able to retire then I would say maybe. But otherwise, keep it to yourself. If they have « voluntary layoffs » they will let all those eligible know.

It does have an impact.

@OP+1hPl6rDR not sure what consequences you are referring to.But who cares you're laid off you're still subject to the pathetic ( however it is kinda nice if you have been here a long time, and depends on your state of residency) package the company offers. So far nothing has happened to me and I told my boss well over 6 months ago. Still got my review at ' meets' and my measley 2 % raise and my AIp and I'm still here. What are you worried about. ? If it's not for you , or you're not ready,, then sit tight look around within the company or just love what you do hhhm..sorry had to clear my throat. After the last town hall who knows there may be opportunities.im just saying...do what's good for you.for me when I get laid off I'm done working. I don't NEED to work anymore. But for selfish reasons I want that package Blessings
