2022 2Q WiNNOVATION Challenge - Improving Collaboration

2022 2Q WiNNOVATION Challenge - Improving Collaboration

How can we respond to this without recourse? This is precisely what management's job is: work on the machine that is their organization. Instead all they do is build empires/silos and push back against any kind collaboration. The individual contributor wants to work well with others, but all that happens at the management level is "that's not my job".

Thanks for offering the platform to offer suggestions, but I can't put my name on any suggestion that will only put a target on my back.

Let’s have another conference call for the conference call to discuss the upcoming conference call. Let’s deploy a new work system but leave all the other systems in place and functioning because certain groups refuse to move or agree on new system. Let’s use an abacus then a calculator but please hand count for verification. Windstream is the Titanic truly unsinkable surviving at the bottom of the ocean.

It's just another dog and pony show to for the board. Every merger and integration has failed and has taken twice as long.

We have done this all before with no outcome from staff employee suggestions or cross functional support teams. Executives act like this is all something new and exciting they have dreamed up.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

New Buzzword, collaboration. 16 years of kingdom building, everyone in their castles with the drawbridges pulled up. Now they want to collaborate? Puh-leaze. We still haven't merged in PAE, still using their tired A$$ processes. The ship is sinking, too many holes in the boat to plug them all. Still top heavy, about to capsize.

I actually put together a list of colo sites that we weren't utilizing as well as cash savings for each one back in 2012 or 2013. Went to the LD team who was managing colos at the time. Had a few meetings with a then-director now VP with the initials AW. He stonewalled in the meetings and refused to have his team act on any of it. It was several million a year in cost savings.

@Milkbone
We have been closing CLEC sites for years. Problem is we need teams of people to get it done in a reasonable amount of time. We bleed soo much cash in just real estate costs. In Some switch sites we spend more money than we take in! Same goes for all of the colos in the market.

@OP
We are already beyond the point of no return! Things are so broken Zayo wants nothing to do with cleaning up someone else's mess.

Made suggestions years ago to shutdown some of the mostly empty CLEC Colo spaces. Years ago. Nothing. Nada.

Now, magically, we're doing it.

TT & company can just F right on off. Id--ts. Every damn one of them.

I've given you ideas, you ignore them. Why bother? Why? So you can get a bonus? Riiiiiiight.

Well, at least they recognize that collaboration at W is abysmal, at best. Unfortuately, these epiphanies only render themselves while visiting the Alps, then quickly fade away when the massive brain of TT steals it's way back down to sea level.

The only thing that remains is the idea; no comprehensive strategy, no effective means to affect change simply because it's a top down effort. Perhaps, it's actually the least of their worries at this point and they're just blowing smoke up our nether regions. W is doomed.
