Is it time to shut down this site?. It appears to have been hijacked by people wanting to express political and conspiracy views rather than discussion of layoffs and Chevron direction. There are enough sites for people to pursue and follow their political bias. Since these are increasingly overlapping with posts here, is it time to just move on or should we refocus the discussion to what was intended originally for this site?

But where will the HR complainers post? Just stiring. Sometimes there is some good information posted on here in between the gunners ( Leave, take legal action or expouse the truth. All which never happens) and the bots.
The negative diatribe of many who post comments on this site is simply a poor reflection on a subgroup of employees who should not have got through the recruitment vetting process. They believe fringe news, conspiracy's without foundation and live through anger. Pathetic, small and definitely not part of the future. Thankfully they are a minority.
Even during last year's layoffs, this site provided precious little information, just innuendos and unsubstantiated rumors. This is more like Workplace for the real employees, not the sycophants. I especially enjoy reading about what other parts of the company are doing (or not doing!). This should be required reading for those naive college students considering signing on with Chevron.
I like to wipe by hand, before I pick my nose and then return to my job refilling the salad bar. Ready to return to work?
What does this tread have to do with layoff?
HR has listened to this site. They are doing their best to answer all of these questions and problems. Its still not enough, and they will deny it, but this site has been game changing for HR. Happy thanksgiving yall.
Cobra Kai says no.
Sir, this is a Wendy’s.
I guess this suggestion would have merit if Chevron indeed was a 'feedback rich culture', and there was no retaliation for disagreeing with management. Allow people to vent here, it's one of the few avenues available to find out what's really happening in the company!
We are not concerned about someone's "intentions" for what this site should be or was intended for. Stop trying to control public opinion and/or limit the scope of public discourse. To do so would be yet another effort at censorship. This site already has way too much censorship and removal of selected posts deemed not to fit the narrative. Back off and let the people speak.
@OP, I hope you’re just trolling and not serious. It’s an anonymous layoff site on the internet, what could go wrong? Best to move on.
OP. It’s simple. If you don’t like the site, move on. If you want to, go make your own site. It’s not a difficult choice.
The trolls won't bother you if you ignore them.
@mods @siteadmins, could you please do some clean-up and delete all off-topics and political rants
Its unfortunate. My motto always been live and let live. I tried to ignore them, but they kept getting more aggressive. Now they threaten, harass and force you to listen to their du-----k conspiracy theories. The right wing has become more extreme and people in the middle are fed up with the bs.
I don't like the trolls either, but you have to remember it's not 'just' a Chevron site. People just choose the larger company threads so more people will see their spew. Typical spammers. Anyhow, sorry about your luck... but yeah, find another site or start one of your own if you don't like it. We all have those options.
OP advocating for more censorship. Color me surprised. Articulate better arguments if youre upset about your topics being irrelevant or less interesting.
Man, don’t get so uptight. Just breeze on by the comments you find useless and pickup on the insightful ones. That’s how it works on Twitter, Reddit, and many other forums (including this one). I particularly enjoy some of the humor on this site.
If people stop reading and commenting on this site, then the bots will take over to keep this site going.
tell them: contact (/--@--/) thelayoff.com
they hurt your feelings and they need to get out of this business....
