Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

It’s hard to be here, it’s hard to get a new job for 50+

Only ones left here are those who can't find other options. I'm surprised they didn't lay me off because I belong to the 50+ group and because of my age I still can't find a job somewhere else. I wonder how many people failed to find work after they were laid off here?

I am over 50 and was WFR'd last year. I took a month off to unwind, and had a job a month after that. Better benefits, less stress, and, through the first week of august have made more than my last full year at DXC. During this time, I have received several "Attaboys" from my new manager, and am part of a great team.
You have nothing to lose by looking, and I'll bet a great opportunity will present itself soon.

I am 50+ and was laid off back at the start of the year. I was pleasantly surprised about the amount of opportunities out there. It took a few months to get a good pipeline of jobs up and running, but once I did I found a lot of jobs to apply to every week. I took my time to find the best match, and the enhanced unemployment benefits helped with that. I had two offers and went with one of those, and it's a great fit in a growing company I'm thrilled to be working at. I turned down am offer from a leading SaaS company, and I was in the middle of interviews with four other companies that I pulled the plug on. There are plenty of shortages of qualified people out there, and I was still getting responses weeks after I started the new job. There were still plenty of situations where my resume went into a black ho-e at companies where I thought I was a perfect match, but that was happening less and less at the end.

I’m over 50, was laid off last year and got a new job recently. Luckily I got severance and enhanced unemployment so I had a pleasant year off and am super happy to be out of that hellhole. The new job is great and they don’t treat me like garbage.

Here in the UK, I left DXC shortly after my fiftieth birthday. I had three job offers to choose from, so age isn't a barrier. Many employers are recognising the value that age and experience can bring to the right role.

Conclusion: age is no barrier to escaping from DXC. So if you've had enough of the toxic culture, the lies, the low-grade work, then it's time to move on! There's a world of opportunity out there.... what are you waiting for?

@OP+1cox5T6k - the entire DXC business model is exploiting and only remaining in existence - because of the 50+ trap!

It is hard but not impossible to move. The 50+ contain all the knowledge that is 'gold dust' that keeps DXC afloat, but is not appreciated.

On a 'technical' operational level, the understanding of what the process, network, tooling etc. was like pre-merge (both sides..) as it has not changed to the slideware yet - bar restricted networks.

On a 'sales process' operational level, not many understand how to quote a service, the CAptn never delivered (7 yrs efforts) I feel sorry for sales guys, they leave from pure frustration with no standard levers to pull they guard there secret pool of 50+ to present and cost services. I would go as far to say - unless a deal is purely Azure hosting DXC cannot easily put a number together! The 50+ help string the right costing spreadsheets (YES, spreadsheets) together to get most bids/quotes out.

On a 'management' operational level I cannot comment, as I never experienced any stewardship or coaching... The managers are also dependant on the 50+ to explain how the sh-t show works.

How many town halls must be attended? Do they they not realize the difference between employees thinking "the leaders are id--ts" and actually getting on a call to prove it? TeveySurpey, what a gem!

So 50+, get moving, you can see how invaluable you are (if not rewarded) let's pump up the attrition rate. 10 minutes into an interview your value will become evident, so do not lack confidence. If theer is one thing to take from DXC, it is how to bullsh-t, don't forget to use in interviews if required.

Was WFRd a bit over 2 years ago. Actively looked for about 8 months and had a solid option I passed on because they weren't comfortable with 100% remote.

Then my spouses health tanked so now I'm 'retired' and supporting her.
