Thread regarding Pratt and Whitney layoffs

Too many friends gone

I know I'm extremely fortunate to still have a job but when I found out who and how many of my coworkers - and friends - have been laid off, it broke my heart. This place will never be the same after this. These people gave so much to the company just to be treated this way in the end. P&W has lost my respect for good.

Hi @OP+17sLC083 – I'm a journalist based in Atlanta and cover military affairs and the defense industry in the South. I'm interested in speaking with any workers in Connecticut who expect to be affected by Pratt's move to North Carolina. Please feel free to email me at taylor.k.barnes@gmail.com if you'd like to speak (anonymously if you need) or please feel free to pass my email along to other workers. best, Taylor

I moved to CT for Pratt in 2000 and right away thought it was an expensive lower middle class dump, definitely nothing special about it to justify the excessive cost of living, so I did what many others did, I voted with my feet and left 3 years later...NO REGRETS !

To @1wjq+17sLC083....you'll stick with civilization ????? Connecticut is the farthest thing from it !!!! It's just a run down, not so nice, has-been , post-industrial stagnant liberal, unacceptably expensive place to live...the dems love naive people like you !

I'm the furthest thing from old (I got 40 years to go before retirement) and I'm moving to Texas as well.

They actually have plenty of job opportunities, it's affordable, the winters are warm and itz 2 biggest cities (Houston & Dallas) are much more cosmopolitan.

Couldn't agree more. Especially looking at who was let go and their performance level. We lost some of the best and kept some bad ones... Bad management
