Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

There's no reason to stay at DXC

Why would anybody want to stay here when we have things like this:

Low Pay
Layoffs
Expected to do two or three jobs for the pay of one
The last raise I got was three years ago
Don't get me started on bonuses
The future seems very bleak
Zero opportunity

Outside of the people I work with, who are all great folks, nothing at this place is good.

I recognise that ethos of your worthless. I made one mistake this year so told not getting a rise. I deployed endless other stuff, identify and eliminated waste, fixed stuff before it was a problem. No mention of that. My colleagues try and do as little as possible and are super careful. Zero delivery means zero error, means you don't loose your place in the pay rise queue. That's why DXC ha stopped delivering.

I left on my own accord to do similar work at a different company. No raises or bonuses during my 5 yrs at DXC. Started to read the writing on the wall. Dealt with a bunch of pushback by account leadership because my role was client facing, but they had nothing to offer and no way I was gonna stay. Fast forward a few months and now Im making better money, eligible for yearly performance bonus, and the retirement matches blow DXC out of the water. The culture at my new gig is so much better and I actually get praise for my work (something that never happened at DXC). For those that feel stuck, keep trying! I was actively trying to get out for years and I didnt give up. DXC has a way of making you feel less than or obsolete. Dont let them win!!!

@9tjr+1vshLvEd I get your point, and agree DXC has this issue in spades. So do our clients. I think its like bloatware in MS, you just keep stacking this sh*t on top because this one time this one thing went wrong.

Until smart folks challenge, and good leaders listen and remove process for process sake this is what we get. Its hard, I get that. There are places where we do refine and steamline though. Don't give up on yourself or your skills would be my advice to anyone. If you can refine processes, prove refinement works and add value somebody will eventually notice.

Sorry, this place is too negative sometimes, and if you do get laid off you must count on yourself in your next gig.

@8ufu+1vshLvEd How long does it take to change a value in a config file. Anywhere else: About half an hour. Just change it, check it in and deploy it. DXC. 5 hours of meetings, 2hrs to do an estimate. 20 hours of project management time. 10 hours of a document that explains in detail what is changing. 2 hrs of begging the change control board to allow you to change the value. And another 8 hours of god this is boring so I'm going to max out the estimate because we get told off if we're too far off the estimate. And... 30 minutes to make the actual change, check it in and deploy it.

it’s good to hear some people are waking up that DXC will never change and merit increases are not something that will ever happen. Do what I did and left this toxic company (i did in 2022).

Some of my ex team were fantastic but the processes and procedures to get anything done took longer than tfe actual work.

Don’t get me started on the executives as they are robbing the shareholders blind

It's reached that point that I'd leave DXC for a lower salary just to get away from this sh-t. It's not about the money, it's such a toxic working environment. I stashed my war chest thanks to years of threats of redundancy which have never materialised.

Left DXC three years ago and joined SAP. Best decision in my career :-). Just leave DXC and don't look back.

@mtg+1vshLvEd It's not just government. The company is determined to waste the clients money on paperwork. The client seems to love it. Nothing useful actually gets done or delivered, just and endless round of can we change the font on this document and reword this section and we'll get it reviewed again.

@uih+1vshLvEd Yeah my project is also joke. Long goverment project with almost monopoly that can simply win another tender with: we are only ones who understand and can work on this software on the market
Design of everything feels like the more complicated it can be the better. Names of everything is shortened to 2 or 3 letters. Some things have complete unrelated names so doing modifications are nightmare. I don't know if somebody is doing it to arrange permanent work here because the majority of the team looks like they will be working on this poject until retirement. On top of that we pretend to be "agile" but somehow the work that I've done for past two years is yet to see production.

It's depressing. I don't even rate the people I work with. They have forgotten how to do their jobs, intentionally or actually I'm not sure. They are so slow. I just seem to get all the blame and criticism as I'm the only one who regularly delivers anything to production. The rest just faff about with documents, and claim they have never been shown. Meanwhile we all get the same pay review. Currently nothing.
