Ethics violations

My manager sells real estate full time while she should be in meetings, at rounds, and participating. She knows about our patients. Our team only gets reprimanded when she looks bad but we have zero motivation and our team has an insanely high turnover. She has her clique of favorites so she can not only show houses and attend closings but she is a landlord and takes care of her properties, all while collecting a 6 figure salary and below bare minimum showing up . She has her groupies do her work. I hate this place. I already complained anonymously to ethics but she was not investigated. I can’t believe someone can get away with stealing so much money from BCBSM and not get caught for 4 years.

I went to HR on a criminal issue that I brought to my boss, was retaliated against by my boss and HR just kept making excuses for my boss. He isolated me, bullied me, yelled at me in group meetings, told me how dare I question his authority as VP when I asked him to stop, and told me I was being transferred to another team just because. HR did nothing until I asked to be transferred.
For them to acknowledge your boss or a higher up is wrong, is them acknowledging fault and makes them liable. HR and Ethics are there to protect the company, not you.
And no, he’s not a white male.

I notified Ethics about 2 different violations. I did not do it anonymously. I called to give them facts, figures, names, and dates. Both were investigated and Ethics will circle back with you to provide info about what’s happened. In one case, the guy was fired. In the other case, both guys were reprimanded and soon left the company. I had another instance but I just quit bc I just can’t keep putting up with this cr-p. He’s gone as well.

Unfortunately, that is fairly common with leadership at Elevance Health. Whether it is running a side business, caring for children, doing housework and other chores or just basically goofing off all day while subordinates and/or favorites cover for them and do their work. One manager referred to it as their management style of 'You scratch my back, and I will scratch yours'. In return, the people that cover for the manager get their own perks like leaving early, being assigned less work than their peers, taking days off without charging against their PTO time, always getting an 'Exceeds' performance ranking which gives them a higher merit raise, extra in their AIP bonuses, etc. If you want to work for a company with ethical management in a non-toxic work environment, I suggest you look for a new job at a different company.

It's your managers responsibility to inform Elevance . Do not do it annousmly, but do expect retaliation the person making the complaint is not unknown. This place has become toxic.

Don’t complain anonymously. Ethics can’t verify anonymous complaints. Stand by your words and provide direct proof that other people will corroborate your story
