I read a few posts about people who found jobs very quickly after being laid off from Centene in February. It makes me happy and gives me hope, however, I am still safe here and have been looking for a job for months but to no avail. There were, however, some very bad offers that I did not agree to.

Use the coaches that were part of the package. They have been great with the transition. Helped with my resume and support with finding new work. If you don’t use them, hire a coach that you like. That’s how I moved on.
Post ID: @8nyg+1a2y0ULr agree with what you are saying in regard to Missouri. Unfortunately we lost most of our health insurance companies here years ago, and many of the remaining have merged at some point. I'm applying to remote positions and not having much luck either. Hoping that I don't have to relocate or change industries. I will never forgive Centene for this last layoff that included older workers making decent salaries they earned over many years with the company, those with ADA accommodations and those that used FMLA resources during this ongoing pandemic. I personally am aware that my former department has taken a dive since they let go of key personnel. Shame on you Centene.
It’s been very difficult in Missouri. I’ve been running into lowball offers or contract work only.
Took me 9 weeks to find my next opportunity.
Just over a month from last day worked to new start date. Same level. Similar industry (not a competitor). Decent salary increase.
It depends where you live and your level. Big cities have lots of postings. Companies appear to be hiring based on the good news about vaccines. Finding a job with good leaders is the tough part. It is probably easier to find Jibs for aholes since folks either quit or get laid off. I looking at optum right now. Lesser of two evils.
I was only with Centene for a few months but had been looking since the start since I knew I had a talentless coworker and incompetent manager. I have the luxury of looking and picking the right opportunity. Things have been very positive. I could not have presented myself in a positive light if I were still working at Centene. Centene, and specifically the team I was on, was a negative, toxic drain. If you are intelligent, have good experience and know the right people, you should never have a problem getting a job.
Oddly enough while I was working there I was looking for a new role for over a year. I had a lot of interviews but I was so beaten down from the massive workload, stress and abuse at Centene that I feel like I wasn’t presenting my best self during those interviews (on one occasion yet another fire drill at Centene caused me to barely make it to the interview on time and to appear a bit flustered (I think) during it; on another occasion I was so stressed about what was happening back at the office I couldn’t focus as much as I should have during the interviews, etc.). I actually decided to leave Centene without another job offer (after saving a little cushion). I’ve never done that before, but working there was actually ruining my life (relationships, mental and physical health). I interviewed for three positions a month after I left Centene. I made it to the final rounds for all three and got offers for two. I guarantee I would have had offers for some of those jobs last year had I left Centene earlier. Good luck to you. Employers will not focus on current employment status so long as you present yourself confidently and enthusiastically (being away from a toxic culture may help you do so like it did me!).
I was part of the last layoff, and to be honest, just started my job search. St Louis is lacking in insurance companies and I haven't found anything here that fits both a desired job description and salary. At this point, it's looking like I may need to veer into another industry and hope there is something that crosses over with my experience, find something permanently remote or relocate. The few people I've heard of that found quick employment had contacts at the companies they are now working for.
